I think you guys missed it. Michael's mom has sickle cell, Andre was telling his son his dad had it. All the main characters are descendants of someone with sickle cell, but they don't have it. This is some mutation that developed in them. The folks in the lab realized this and started watching out for them and scooping them up to do research to probably weaponize it like we do everything else. The blood ain't giving them the powers they're just collecting it for data.

I love that you guys are enjoying this show. Season two is about to cook. Things to know (others said it last video but here’s some details): Rapman, the creator of the show, is a music artist who made a 3-part series called Shiro’s Story, you should watch it. It’s incredible. He also directed his debut film, Blue Story which delves into how friendships and the hood (road as they call it) life can crossover. When he started working on this show, he used Heroes, the NBC show, as the template for building up the idea of this show. And finally, Top Boy. Where do I begin? Just trust me. You’ll learn A LOT about the street life in the UK through that show. Not just slang but how the culture bleeds in strongly. Especially since a lot of UK Rap/Drill artists are the main leads of the show which is one of the most interesting things about it.
