"Gotta have legs in boxing...it's a game of inches...a lot of times today, they teach hands first. They don't teach feet...older trainers, they teach feet first. It's feet, then they teach hands...your feet are your first line of defense," stated undefeated super middleweight king Andre Ward, who explained and demonstrated why a fighter's feet are more important than their hands in boxing. Check it out!

loyalpowers agree, the fights of the year are always between two warriors. Not "runners". Take Floyd for example, considered the best by many (not by me) yet how many fights of the year has he been in? 0 pacquiao has 3 fighter of the year awards and like 2 fights of the year. Real talk.

Andre ward perfect fighter to model yourself after. Not many people can pull off the shell like Floyd or james toney. Just based of ones body anatomy and biomechanics. Andre style is more accessible to recreate and learn for everyone

to me boring is when two fighter stand in the middle of the ring just trading shots with low boxing IQ because anyone can do that.i think that why the casual fan can't tell who is good and who isn't.but what i don't like is when boxer give to much movement. canelo v lara is a good fight to look at,lara give way to much movement like ward said "this is a game of inches''.But trainers need to spend more time on feet because if you're fighting a out boxer you'll need to cut the ring off and thats what makes it boring, a fighter only knowing how to fight flat footed boxers... but some of you guys need to take the time and learn the sport a little bit better

+Mike Nite Actually, I hate it when Phony boxing experts who think the sweet science is all defense call out "casuals". Offense is as much a part of the sweet science as defense. A perfect boxer knows how to do it all, slug, move around, cut the ring, box while stepping back, use head movement etc. A perfect boxer isn't just defense or just offense, he's BOTH.

Favorite boxer...one of the best at using entire body when boxing...he’s seems to hardly ever be out of place ...chin always down ...punching at the right angle to shield...always using leverage and angles. Besides all that a good sport and a warrior...what more can you ask.
@WilsonKayden

Here we have Andre Ward giving us his insight on the sweet science. Training feet first is the only way to go. We have coaches out here producing biological androids off a conveyor belt. smh Footwork is the first line of the defence AT ALL TIMES. Creating just enough distance to make your opponent miss but still being in range to counter and make them pay. Footwork is the means by which you can make your opponent make positional adjustments and then make them pay as they adjust. Whether you're taking someone to the right to setup a left hook to the body, or your stepping back from a punch, or your performing a quick pivot turn to expose the centre line. ITS ALL FEET FIRST.

+Pacha Ki Defense is offense? LOL! If you really believe that, I feel sorry for you. You can't be a master of one of two halves and then say that it covers both. That's insulting to people who actually MASTERED both offense and defense, like Sugar Ray Robinson, 1960's Muhammad Ali, Prime Roy Jones Jr, etc. PS. I box a little but I spend more time studying great boxers.

Now Ward just reveal what makes Mayweather, Himself Rigondeaux and Hopkins great and THAT stuff is what is called footwork I made a video on that actually....it is not about running around it is about being in position.....as Ward so correctly said it is about making them miss by inches and making them pay and the subtle movements which takes YEARS to learn and to be trained in...also something he said which is even more important is the overall body movement...the hands the torso the legs the shoulders the head all move as one....for leverage and for defense all in one movement take for instance the roll....the roll can also be a counter hook all in the same motion so as you are rolling you check hook your opponent.....now that is some advanced stuff which takes years for these young cats to master and understand...see inbuilt in your offense is defense and inbuilt in your defense is offense....all in one movement all in one motion and that is something I wish the Lamont Peterson's and the other younger guys could understand. That is what Makes Mayweather different to all these guys even Pacquiao does not understand the footwork necessary in boxing.........Khan is learning slowly.......it is not speed....it is placement (defensively and offensively)...it is not speed it is timing (defensively and offensively). You got to have those to truly be effective against elite competition like a Ward...a Mayweather...a Kell Brook....who place themselves in positions where you will not be able to hit them without yourself being out of position. Split seconds...and inches...I love it.

david banner Yes Kell pivots really really well I was truly amazed at his footwork against Shawn porter...it was masterful. I hope to see him face better competition than a Gavin...very disappointing that someone who does not deserve a shot at the title gets it before more deserving former champions. Politics in boxing for you!

WattUNeed oh' yeah brock was superb over porter. kell proved me wrong, i had porter in that fight. i thought porter would be too much for him. i was so fuckin' amazed how brock handled all that pressure and schooled him at the same time. i didn't think that, porter would recover well after that schooling he took from brock. but in his last outing, he had the right guy in front of him,to ease his way back, but the early rounds were not easy for him, and the guy took the fight on short notice, so i think it remains to be seen if porter will fully recover the brock fight.
