Froch could get schooled all day and still get a ko win. Point is Ward was tougher, rougher and out muscled him, as well as being more clever, and Froch didn't expect that. Froch probably won one round and if he'd fought that round every round, he'd have gassed out by half way.

Fair play I had no idea Andre Ward was such an intelligent and insightful bloke. Got into boxing after his time. That last part is a lesson to all young fighters: you’ve got one body, one brain. Fight smart and look after them, especially in sparring!

He spoiled alot and his power was unremarkable. With that said he was a very cerebral fighter. Unfortunately for me he’ll be under appreciated for the near future at least, largely because he refused to play the role that white audiences prefer Black American fighters to play.

Definitely all-time great skills and got out with his wits and his winnings intact. I think he lost the first fight to Kovalev and would have liked to see him against Calzaghe or even Canelo just to solidify his reign. Accomplishment-wise, he's nowhere near a Ray Leonard or Pacquiao . Definitely HOF caliber though. Still, better to retire undefeated and healthy than to stay too long.

These are both really good guys. Froch uses bravado to sell his fights and Ward doesn't. I identify more with Ward's personality but the things Froch said are not atypical for fighters, and he was no slouch, for sure.

Great fighter for sure. Couldn't lace Calzaghe or Ward's boots. Ward beat him with one hand and one of their mutual victims Kessler even admitted it. Froch was nowhere near that level. He was champ in a very, very weak era with only one dominant dude. Would have been fun to see him get schooled by Calzaghe but alas he wanted to earn more against better and more experienced dudes

Haven’t seen it in a couple of years but I seem to recall Ward made Froch look a bit silly in this face off & then did the same in the ring… I quite like Froch now I think he gives his honest opinion which is generally informed, but he did used to have a reputation of being a bit of a tool as a fighter & during his early punditry days…

He was more one for the purists of the craft. Looked to spoil too much for my liking on the inside but that was how Virgil Hunter taught him to fight. Froch was one of the great levellers in the sport for me. In that he could beat people that were better boxers. That’s what made his fights exciting.

@@garydonaldson5573 they didn't fight as both were undefeated champions. Froch was a great fighter but he couldn't lace Calzaghe or Ward's gloves. The mindset for Froch was always overreaching which he did successfully which is why he loves to talk about them. He did way better than his skill level should have but his era was also a massively weak one. His best wins weren't exactly all that impressive. Same could be said for Calzaghe but then again he still beat Jones Jr and Hopkins which Froch would never have managed even at the age they were
