I remember this fight clearly and thinking at the time that Froch was anything more than an average champion who basically got schooled. He was a future hall of famer and that don't come easy

Ward rightfully won the fight, but what is wierd, I gave Froch the last two rounds, which some others did as well. But John Stewart gave the last two rounds to Ward. Had Stewart done the same as I did, He would have given his card to Froch. Also Keane, who had the widest score of 118-110 was from Britain. What was so funny for me was that after Froch got his revenge against Kessler by descision, the announcers from the USA asked Froch who he would want to fight next between Kessler (a third time) or Ward. Froch answer was, that it a tough one. Found that funny, as one would think that he would want to et revenge for his loss to Ward.

Ward basically schooled Froch in this fight. He had superior boxing skills (no surprise as Froch was never known for his slickness in the ring) and it felt like he was nullifying Froch all the way through as you were watching it. Froch appeared more and more helpless as the fight progressed and Ward never looked hurt at all. Having said that, Ward was always boring to watch, he was a pretty dirty fighter and retired relatively early which is probably why nobody really speaks about him when discussing the greats. I'd be surprised if he was any neutral's favourite fighter tbh.

Another American boxer who never strayed outside his comfort zone ( all his fights took place in the USA and almost all in California ). After the fight Froch asked Ward for a rematch in his hometown of Nottingham needless to say he swerved that one. True greats aren't afraid of taking their talents to their opponents backyard .

That would be like crawford giving spence a rematch. The outcome was clear no need.

I'm not a big fan of Ward.. But, the fact that he shut the mouth of a Brit fighter and made the Brit fans cry, he's alright.
