Most user friendly distros come with this suite, and not only that it comes with it in a way where if you write "Word" in search bar it will redirect you to the LibreOffice version, which is good.

What happened to the old LibreOffice? It is still on your computer or completely removed?
@AndreaBormanАй бұрын
When I first installed Debian it came with LibreOffice but it was an older version. Which Debian has in the package manager. I removed that and installed the updated version from the LibreOffice website. Debian and Ubuntu don't always have the latest version. So it is better to install LibreOffice from the website if you do want the one that is up to date.
@HutS-e5cАй бұрын
@ Thank you very much. The video doesn’t tell how to uninstall the old LibreOffice.
@AndreaBormanАй бұрын
@@HutS-e5c You can uninstall the old version of LibreOffice from Synaptic Package Manager or from the terminal. You also have to do this when there is an update to the new version. Because when you install it yourself from the web, it doesn't update automatically, you have to do this yourself.

If I send spread sheets to clients, can they open/read them if I use Libre to make them?
@AndreaBormanАй бұрын
Yes you can. There is also a LibreOffice for Windows. OpenOffice also does a version for Windows. Both support all of the Microsoft formats so they should work.

Why do you have a linix mint 9 wallpaper and linux mint icon for the launcher, since you are on debian??
@tfwamiriteАй бұрын
the mint themes are better and any version of Linux lets you use any other versions themes.

Linux Mint is a debian distribution
@croozerdogАй бұрын
why not?
@JustinGeekNerdАй бұрын
@@croozerdog Because it makes no sense. You can change the wallpaper and the Application Launcher icon to anything. Unless you are trying to be funny, such as making it look like Windows or Mac, but to be on Debian using a Mint wallpaper and icon makes zero sense, unless you just installed the theme but have no idea how to change the wallpaper and icon 😂
@tiomkinnyborg2289Ай бұрын
Linux is 100% open. That means you are free to use whatever wallpaper or icons you like. There is ZERO restrictions. It makes perfect sense if you run a free and open OS. Does M$ not allow you to do this? They used to in the olden days. I can see where the confusion is coming from.

Don’t you think cinnamon desktop is better?
@AndreaBormanАй бұрын
I like the Cinnamon desktop but Gnome Flashback is also a good choice. Like Cinnamon it is Gnome but has the old style start menu instead of the look of main Gnome. A lot of users including myself feel more at home with that. Because that's what we used on Windows 7.

@AndreaBormanАй бұрын
Not only that but you have to pay for Microsoft Office and it's quite expensive. Both LibreOffice and OpenOffice do they same thing. Best of all they are both free so it won't cost you a penny.
@jean-francoisbouchard3382Ай бұрын
Just install Windows and buy Office. Not free, but mainstream and always up to date.
@AndreaBormanАй бұрын
I don't like paying for software. I did like the older versions of Microsoft Office. Remember Microsoft Office 97 and 2000 with Clippy, Genius and the animated office assistants. It's a shame that they don't have that on Linux but then it's a different operating system. LibreOffice is free and so is OpenOffice. They both do the same things as Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office is quite expensive and they no longer have the office assistants. Not sure why Microsoft got rid of them.

@AndreaBormanАй бұрын
@@jean-francoisbouchard3382 Oh really? I didn't know that. I think it's like Cortana the animated assistant that helps you to set up Windows 10. I do like the old office assistants. Rover the dog, Merlin and the others that came with the old Microsoft Office. They were on on Windows XP as search companions on Windows Explorer. Those were the good old days of Windows XP when Windows was fun to use. Those days are gone with Windows 11.
