But the fine print of it all is that I wouldn't have been listening to metal music as much as I have today if it wasn't for this guy.

the question mark means that any classification for that band would be improper. I hear people say that children of bodom are melodic death metal since I was a kid. I still think that cob don't fit into a particular subgenre but they didn't invent one. so they won the "?". same thing for lamb of god, nevermore etc. I've put the genre just to add something more than the band name, riff name and the number. I don't give a damn about labels in music. anvil are heavy metal to me. if you think they're thrash that's fine, it's not a big problem to me because it's UNIMPORTANT peace
@eyeintheesky20988 жыл бұрын
I have always thought of Children of Bodom as a mix of Thrash or Shred and Melodic Death with a dash of Symphonic for good measure. But why muddy things with labels. They are a damn heavy so why not just enjoy the music. Or at least that's my opinion anyway.

COB - before HCDR are pretty much a darkened/deathened power-speed metal. Afterwards are more like MDM. Also, Downfall is in standard D tuning, not drop C ;)
@AndreaBoccarusso8 жыл бұрын
mario ok, I respect the classification, but that wasn't the point of the post. talking about the tuning I've tried to play more songs possibile with the least number of tuning changes. so I've put the tuning I was using in that moment, not the original used for the song. thanks for the clarification anyway

I’m really glad that you put The Thing That Should Not Be by Metallica instead of something like Enter Sandman or Master of Puppets because it’s such a crushing yet underrated riff that gets constantly overshadowed by other riffs. It’s refreshing to hear instead of expecting the same old riffs (not that they are bad riffs or anything; just get sick of having the same songs in the same list.).

Amazing. This video has been out for over seven years and I haven’t heard 90% of the riffs in here, and I consider myself a metalhead. Metal really is a huge genre with a ton of banger riffs, it seems. I’m impressed not only by the fact that this guy knows so many metal riffs from such a wide variety of bands, but also that he can play them all, and well, too! This video really is like standing inside of a huge mansion with a ton of different doors, each leading to a different dimension of metal. I’m beyond grateful that this video exists. Andrea showed me Peruvian Skies by Dream Theater and Raw by Freak Kitchen, which were banger songs too. Gracias.
