I was a young dresser working on Phantom of the Opera when it opened in 1987, and I was just 17. Sarah Brightman used to give me a beautiful smile as she waited to go on stage at the start of the show. I've only just realised writing this that I was the last person she was with before starting her performance every night. And she always gave me a beautiful long smile. She never came over to me, and I never went over to her, and neither of us ever said a single word. She just smiled forever and then went on stage. I will never forget your smiles. Thank you, Sarah. @pp-initiatives Жыл бұрын
Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman's rendition of "Time to Say Goodbye" (Con te partirò) is an exceptional fusion of two distinct vocal styles that create a transcendent listening experience. Bocelli's robust tenor, with its emotive resonance, seamlessly intertwines with Brightman's ethereal soprano, soaring together to breathtaking heights. The interplay between their voices is an embodiment of the poignant theme of parting, as they transport the listener to a world where love, loss, and longing converge. This unforgettable duet has not only stood the test of time but also solidified its place as a timeless masterpiece in the realms of classical crossover music.

The first time I heard this was in 1999, when I was locked up in jail. It was on a PBS special. It was a beautiful thing to hear, in a place full of ugliness and unwanted noise. Hearing it touched me deeply. And it has stayed with me all these years later. Today my life is drastically different. Growth and the passage of time have rendered a responsible middle-aged man. I wonder if hearing this, at that moment, had a small part in it? I like to think so. 😊

I retired to Thailand over 20 years ago. The first time I saw this performance was during a fund raiser for the A & E Network when I was living in Canada. Todays date is 10th of June 2024. A big thanks to all the artists for allowing their material on KZbin.

Hearing this on the funeral of my dad was one of the hardest things I’ve been through. Hearing it now makes me smile with happiness with the times we had together but it’s tainted with sadness that he’s no longer here. Losing him on Father’s Day makes it that so much harder. 18/6/23. This song is about two lovers embarking on a journey together as one. The literal interpretation of the song title in Italian is "I will leave with you". The people they are saying goodbye to is not each other but to their loved ones as they begin a life together in a new world and become one flesh. It's a great song for a newlywed couple!
