ALBANIA keeps surprising us (BERAT: The City of a Thousand Windows)

After our first nights parking disaster we found a beautifully, peaceful spot below the Apolonia archeological site. From there Berat was only a short drive away and although we had another midnight 'incident' it was a wonderful town to explore for a couple of days.

I don't suppose you can remember the name of the restaurant in Berat where you ate the lamb and yoghurt, stuffed capsicum, and Albania stew? It looked amazing, and we'd like to try it too!

The place that we ate at in Berat was "Traditional food and Grill" and if you can, try to make a booking to also eat at "Homemade Food Lili" (that's where we couldn't eat because they were fully booked). Albania is very well known for its wines and food but ask for good restaurants not just any restaurant you find 😂 order birra peja, birra korça or birra Tirana those are the best beers in Albania. I highly recommend restaurant “Friendly house” delicious food and nice traditional restaurant in the old town of the city

So sorry to hear about your second bad night in Albania. What can one say, these idiots are obviously very well brought up, bet their parents are very proud of them. Would it be worthwhile putting some sort of a small camera (ring doorbell kind of thing) so that at least you can capture them for the police. However, the fact that the security guard already knew about them tells me that the local police do also. That lamb dish looked so nice, and the resto prices seem very reasonable. And the pastries and ice cream, ye guys have arrived in AndreandLisaland ! Its so nice to see Albania like this, its not a country I would have considered visiting but the history, landscape and culture looks wow so far. Safe travels and here's hoping that is the last of your bad experiences.

We would love to have more outside cameras. We do use the review one quite often for 'surveillance' but more would be better. Someone must have called the police because they did drive past clearly looking for something but they were unfortunately a bit too late. This kind of thing happens everywhere, we were just unlucky to be there. Albania is definitely worth visiting. We're still enjoying it here and have a few more local dishes to try! Ok, so I got the answer about our traditional food of the other video of Vlore I wrote to you. Yeah, Berat can cook our traditional food at best. You guys can't get enough ice cream can you haha??? I bet in South Africa you dry up those ice cream parlors haha! And byrek is our specialty! We make it in all kinds of shapes and forms. You probably don't realize our traditional cuisine is old very very old perhaps 10000+ years old.

@@WeWillNomad First, I am very sorry for the disturbance you've encountered in Vlore and Berat from those youngsters. It leads me to think that it might have been done on purpose to force you to go to hotels. You should always be alert and notify the police. You should ask locals wherever you are if there is shop that makes ice cream as it was made before 1990's! It's without flavors that they add nowadays copying Italian style. It's the old world kind of ice cream of pure bio milk. I've been told of two places: in town of Kavaje there's a shop called Nela and somewhere along the road from Tirana to Lalez beach there are two shops that make it as in old times. Good luck. I have looked for those ice-cream places and marked them for next time (we have moved south now) 👍 I don't think the disturbance was aimed at us, we were just unlucky and it can happen anywhere. We only show it because it is a reality of living in a motorhome, but we do not blame Albania! 😊
