Angelina is getting closer to her full development. She is becoming a cross of Adele, Diana Krall and Amy Winehouse. Her strength will always be her low register voice, which may not be appreciated by the current high register belting pop loving general audience. This genius we call Angelina Jordan How is it possible that all of the greatest vocalists in my lifetime to date can be combined into one being that is so unique, and that this person has the support, and resources of her family to promote her genius? We then have to consider the vehicle to carry AJ to us, the internet, the chances that all of these variables would be combined are one in several billion. As for the new song, "Love Don't Let Me Go", I have now played it 29 times, and AJ's signature, storytelling vocals are hypnotizing. With the 4 inch heals AJ has on at the start of the video she would be standing 6 feet 5 inches tall, she is 6-foot 1 inch barefooted. AJ wrote this tune, I wonder who the co-writers were, Lana Del Raye, or Redone, or Stargate out of Norway? Co-writers are listed on the streaming services: MTHR (Karl Ivert & Kian Sang - Swedish) They are also the producers.

At first listen, I was surprised that Angelina chose this one as the first OG from her new album, but re-listening, the controlled restraint, breath control, etc became more evident. Angelina has such a deep vocal toolkit that she can choose any number of ways to sound amazing. She has range, vocal dynamics, texture, and killer vibrato, but today she gives us tone, phrasing, and rhythm because that’s what this song calls for. She never flaunts her vocal ability, but lets her musicality determine her singing. I’ve heard people describe the style for this song as jazzy pop. I can live with that. The overall image is obviously retro, and her singing somehow combines that retro vibe with fresh and modern elements. You may have chosen the best description of her voice: timeless. And I'm super happy whenever I see you react to Angelina 🙂 This was a single from her upcoming debut album, and is just a visualizer, done by herself, before a music video will be released I guess around the time she's finished her exams and Republic Records will start promoting her. So far there has been NO promoting of this song whatsoever. She will drop an EP in June, hopefully containing 4-6 tracks, before her album will drop maybe a month or two after that. I guess with promotion and her EP, she will have built quite a hype for her album. With this, Angelina has arrived for real. And I think she will take over, so take cover. Like one commenter wrote : "Love may not have a face, but it sure has a voice! " I think that was SO well written 🙂 Btw, the car is a 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster, and it would set you back north of 4 million bucks 😂 Btw, She has said in interviews that her whole album will have a 60s vibe to it, and that all the songs are her own. Nice reaction, Andrea,. Angelina's vocal toolbox is stuffed with things she can do. The remarkable thing about her is her ability to choose just the ones she wants to express a particular emotion, or song. Everything she does seems to be designed to make the music better; not to show off the fact she can do something. So yes, you hear some Amy, but you also hear Billie Holiday, Etta James, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra, Louie Armstrong, Adele, etc. There are dozens of influences in her and she seems to have the ability to choose just the right ones.

You and Angelina have similar hair 😃 I appreciate music that's not mainstream, Angelina is one of them, and your music is unique too, Andrea! I gave a listen to "this city", those special major seven chords are really tasteful. Voice and guitar sounded real, not overprocessed, no auto tune I guess. That's really cool, but the only thing that irritates me a little is the structure of the song. I have a hard time making out structures, a chorus for instance, but maybe I'm just too dumb to recognize it. Or maybe it's more about the vibe than the structures. Hi Andrea- Thanks for your thoughts on this one! You used two words here that I think are particularly salient. The first is classy. Here we have a young, up and coming singer that we have all but watched grow up in front of us via her videos. Through it we have seen a kid with uncanny poise and confidence. A kid with grace and class in how she carries herself and how she interacts with others. A kid that, in spite of prodigious talent of which she is perfectly aware, a pile of accolades, and heaps of praise from the loftiest to the most pedestrian, doesn't seem to have even a whiff of hubris. Huge props to her family for the job they did raising, loving, and supporting her. And huge props to her for all of her personal choices in her life to take the high road and be an inspiration to us all. The second word you used that I want to agree with and applaud you for is tasteful. As a general descriptor of her musical sensibilities and how she has done covers, this is a perfect word. This kid has great style and taste; it just radiates from her. In a time where self-aggrandizement and poor taste seem to be the rule for getting attention, it is an absolute delight to find a light like her shining through it all. If you can reunite the last band that played live with Amy Winehouse, with the two guys that sing and dance next to her, and play this song with Angelina today, I think that it would be scary. The conexion that Angelina has with Amy goes deeper than the musical level and it's nothing new. Thanks, Andrea, for AJs reaction to her new song. Tonality, to me, is also the Branding a vocalist shares. We can recognize specific singers because of their tone. Winehouse was also timeless with that jazz backing, and like you said, we know and hear those tonality differences between the two. Gee, I am not sure you knew that this is her original song - she wrote it. Because the meaning of the song is so important, it was not the time to do vocal gymnastics, but just be the storyteller, which she does beautifully. This song will be in her new album, out soon. Her record company, Republic, did a fine job of graphics, music, etc. Stargate may have had a hand in this too, as they have done in earlier originals.

Angie said this song is about LOVE itself. Not about being in love, just talking to LOVE. EP is suppose to drop soon and her album suppose to drop between June and Fall 2023 at the latest.
