Both these singers are legends is an understatement specially for Abida Parveen (2nd singer with open curly hair). There is no better singer alive than Abida and BILLIONS follow her music and she just puts u in trance and shakes ur emotions. She is also known as Queen of Sufi music (one of the oldest if not the oldest genre of music), She is what Nusrat was for male singer (best vocalist/singer ever lived aka King of Kings of Qawali music another oldest genre of music) we are lucky to be alive in her era. The Urdu language originated in undivided India and was adopted as as the National Language of Pakistan after partition in 1947. Pakistan has other regional Languages like Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto and a variety of dialects, that are also spoken in India..... The language this song is sung in is mostly Punjabi, not Urdu. Abida Parveen is revered and loved in India as much as she is in Pakistan. Naseebo Lal is also Fabulous and amazing..... hope we get to hear more of her,in India

urdu originated during mughal era. it was the language of the mughal army. ordu literally means army in turkish. it is derived from turkish persian arabic and hindi. since mughal army had soldiers of different nationalities they needed a common language thus urdu or ordu was born

Urdu is a mixture of Persian Arabic dari and Turkish so please it’s not from India …… we speak pushtho and it’s a mixture of mostly Persian Turkish even german …… your Hindi is way different ……. Oh, their musicians are at another level on the Classical front. Long ago I attended a music fest in Delhi, and the Pakistani musicians totally decimated everyone else with sheer performance! Just go through the earlier Coke Studios... Pakistan vs India versions and the difference is quite stark.

About the hand movement, in Qawalli, the singers are always sitting down, and you will find the qawalli singers more animated with hands than Italian stereotypes. My theory is that with movement of hands they control, modify, their vocal chords with different pressure allowing them to manipulate the notes. This isnt a qawalli song, but Abida Parveen is a qawali singer. And there are alot of qawalli singers and qawalli fusions in coke studio. The main signature of qawalli songs is a singer with his/entourage sitting down during performance, and theres alot of repetitions between the two. A single qawalli song can be from 10 min upto an hour. Would strongly suggest you to checkout the following 1. Rang coke studio 2. Shikwa Jawab e shikwa coke studio 3. Rahat Fateh Ali khan Raag at Noble peace prize concert.

Actually in our region usually Qawali singers and classical singers start practicing from childhood. Also, they do vocal practice daily almost which is called Riyaz. And you were surprised by the singer's facial expression while singing. Actually, most of the poetry is based on Oneness which is from the Muslim Holy book Quran. All the Sufi poets spread the message of the Holy Prophet S.A.W, which is peace, and love. That is why when someone listens to it or sings it has unique inner satisfaction.
