C418 - Mice on Venus, but it's a sad film score

After this crazy time, where the KZbin algorithm recommended my two Minecraft reorchestrations to a lot of people, I decided to make a new one.
I only concentrated on the first part of the piece, because I think it's such a strong melody and I wanted to find out where it could go. At first I had no idea how this could ever work out and I nearly scrapped the idea of making this video at all, but suddenly the idea of the chord change and the flute popped into my head and all from then on the ideas just kept flowing out of me.
It's always such an emotional moment to listen to the final track on which I've been working on for hours and notice it all just comes together in the end. Even shed a few tears while making this one.

Steve returned to his house after defeating the ender dragon, but on the trip back he was killed by a creeper, he didn't respawn since It was hardcore and his dog kept waiting and got excited over any movement, the dog soon began losing hope for his owners return, at his final minutes he had a flashback to all the memories he and steve had, he then closed his eyes for the final time.

I remember the first few times playing this game about 12 years ago and listening to the music and thinking nothing of it other than background noise. Through the years I learned how amazing and impactful it is listening to it and when it hits at the perfect moment you finish a build or kill a boss. I genuinely cried when I listened to this, i expected it to just be another "sad mice on venus video", but it was so much more, it made my very soul hurt with how nostalgic this is, and it reminded me about when I was little, and so exited to come home from school everyday, just to play minecraft on our ps4. I wish that I could just go back, make more amazing memories. that ps4 had so many of my childhood memories engraved into it, little big planet, minecraft, lego marvel super heroes. You look back on it now, people complain how the game is too 'complicated' now. Well its not really. In fact WE were the simple ones. We played it with such simplicity. But it was fun, we had some of the best times of our life thanks to this game, and now? We can never life through it again. Minecraft is a game not about completion, or being the best at PVP, or Building, or whatever. Its about being free. We get to choose how we life our life in this complicated beautiful world. I recently got access to my old computer, and i found the first minecraft world i created. 11/7/14, i transfered the world save from the computer (Since opening a minecraft world would just make the computer crash) to my new computer, i loaded the world up, and a sudden rush of nostalgia came in, a full diamond steve, a badly constructed house, 2 dogs sitting..all while mice on venus was playing in the background. I remember being an absolute fan of this game, I started since tu19 on xbox 360, and remember loving this game. The only game I played on my 360. I always favored this world I made, I remembered I only played single player, infact I never played multiplayer but still enjoy the game. It was always nice seeing the sky turn night as the sun began to set. It was always very very beautiful even though it's made out of pixels. Until I switched to xbox one, i started playing Minecraft again but it didn't have that feel, it was very dull, and all my worlds corrupted, and have never touched the game again. but hearing this music really made me relive the moments of when I was in love with such a masterpiece. Bedrock can never recreate this moment..

I think Skyblock at its core is the ultimate challenge in resource management. You spawn on a tiny island in an empty universe. All you have is a tree, some supplies and some dirt to stand on. You have to treasure EVERY dirt block, because if one falls into the void, there's no way to replace it and as you carefully navigate your absurd circumstance, you gain a new appreciation for the few things you have as you meticulously use them to their fullest effect. With nothing but some ice, lava and saplings you slowly transform this empty expanse into a world of your very own. Skyblock teaches us that no matter how ridiculous the odds may seem, within us resides the power to overcome these challenges and achieve something beautiful. God, I hope they don't make a minecraft movie. It's be just as bad as the emoji movie, no matter how many talented people work on it. The emoji movie was bad because emojis, as a concept, are impossible to make a movie out of and so is minecraft. There's no serious plot or any sort of substance to make a joke out of so the only way I could possibly see a minecraft movie working out, is for the movie to just be one hour and thirty minutes of someone playing minecraft but with good camera angles. Any other approach would just never be able to encapsulate the true beauty that is Minecraft and would, therefore, feel bland and unfaithful to the source material

Minecraft is such an expansive game that has left SO much room for theorising about lore. For example, there's such a sense of wonder and timelessness to discovering a jungle temple for the first time. There are literally countless ways the temple could have come about, maybe it was built by some ancient civilisation. Comparing an infinitely substantive game to some funny little face thingies is just dumb.
