This is a very tasteful, masculine home with very generous proportions. It's neither too bland nor too flashy, and it is extremely luxurious with wide open indoor spaces and even quite generous and tasteful outdoor areas. It's perfect for me to blend work with living and pleasure. It doesn't have any views of the lake or the city and I have never lived in Chicago, so have no idea what sort of a neighborhood this is, but I love the home for its sheer luxury and masculine palate.

I’m surprised there aren’t any code violations for having a garage without a complete separation from the main living area. Carbon monoxide spreads quickly and the connecting door did not look like it was a sealed door- not to mention the wall didn’t even go up to the ceiling. So essentially it’s all shared space.
@andreisavtchenko3 жыл бұрын
Yep, all shared space. The garage isn’t really used for that purpose that much. It’s used by the owners as an extension of the entertainment spaces. The garage door adds to the cool factor!

As an architect myself i guess it’s safe to say that a lot of architects build projects according to the material sizes - most are around the multiplication of 60cm because it’s the general human size. But it is an extra effort so no doubt it’s a nice touch when it’s done.
@andreisavtchenko4 жыл бұрын
I didn’t realize it’s common practice among architects. What type of projects do you work on?
@gabigabi65304 жыл бұрын
Well, it’s more like that rule that “we know it’s there but ignores most of the time” 😜 it’s because a lot of designers feel it’s too limiting aesthetically if the rule is used too often. I work on hotel interiors, private houses and sometimes cafes..
