Sectors and Loop Windowing with Enso

Superb. I saw your latest video which reminded me of this plugin. Watching this and your other two prior Enso videos made me realize I'd completely underestimated this plugin. I kinda thought A.D. had stopped updating too. I'm gonna spend some quality time with this. Huge amount of possibilities. Even more running more than one instance, within something like 'Maschine' that can capture on the fly. Thanks for making this looper make more sense.

I hadn’t thought about using Sectors set to very short lengths, and even better, as then being movable in real-time via MIDI. Here, I was mostly thinking of them as quadrants, and possibly nothing more. Thank you, Andre!

Nasty popping in between quadrant hopping, did you just change start points to accommodate that?

Sorry for the delay getting back to you! For me, that popping and clicking is just part of the deal. I don't remember doing anything specific to deal with it... the recent update allegedly gets rid of most of that stuff, but I haven't tried this sort of thing with it yet.

Thanks a lot for this video on Enso!, for personal and travelling reasons I only work with software instruments and processors now and I think Enso is the one that currently better includes some of the advanced functionalities of classic professional loopers like the EDP, such a shame that software loopers like Mobius and EchoLoop have been abandoned... on iOS Enso is also the best looper to me despite what the fanboys and beatboxers say about loopy "pro" 😄... Combining several instances of Enso inside AUM makes some really powerful experimental looping capabilities... I hope you can make more videos about Enso and other software loopers, Thanks again!

Thank you! From what I've seen, Loopy Pro seems like a totally different kind of instrument compared to Enso. I can understand why people who love LP are so into it, but it definitely doesn't feel like a product of the EDP/Mobius/Echoloop/"long delay" school. Not a dis to Loopy Pro! Different strokes, etc. (And: at least two more videos on Enso, recorded during the same session, are coming soon.)

@@andrelafosse The other app I’d single out as a product of that "long delay" school is Ruismaker’s Gauss, which is iOS-only. It’s very specifically modeled on tape-looping systems, and has some interesting sequenced-speed-change features that are useful for more generative applications.

Is it possible to reduce the artifacts of the smaller sectors with a little bit of crossfade for the start-end points?, Can you apply different values of reverse and play-rec speed to different sectors?

Everything I've found indicates that reverse and playback speed are global. I haven't seen any way to make those parameters different for individual sectors. Not saying it isn't possible, but if it *is,* it's a very well-concealed feature. :) In testing it out right now, I find that crossfade doesn't do anything to the individual start and end points of an individual sector. Shortening the sector time down to a few milliseconds, and then moving the start position around, still produces some popping/clicking artifacts, even with crossfading cranked way up. Wow.. Not sure after watching all of the videos on youtube whether i needed to get this after all. Endless demonstrations of how to make a total unmusical mess. Only one vid where it is actually making some beautiful music. A bit like some modular vids where after spending enough to buy a decent house the demonstrator manages a few bleeps and bloops that my cat runs away from. Hmmm. technology is great but in the hands of a musician it becomes beautiful. Or not. all very clever but what about some actual music rather than a disjointed cacophany? I think Loopy pro can do what I need more easily. At least you can undo the layers as required. Someone somewhere must be making this app sound incredible. Any chance of a video if you are?
