Am really sad that Xavi and Iniesta never won Ballon dor, those guys were highly underrated. Looking back now I see how they made it so so easy for Messi to shine. They sacrificed themselves for Barcelona and Messi. They could easily captain any club they want in Europe but retired in such a way that they could never play against the Barcelona they love so much. He's easily somewhere in the top 5. Number 1 would be probably Xavi. We know this is very subjective but I have to say I hardly would give credit to any list that don't have these two in the first five positions, that's for sure. Pirlo and Zizou are also there but in my opinion Iniesta and Xavi are still one step ahead because: 1. They were crucial pieces in two historical teams, best Barça team ever, considered one of the best teams in the whole history for many, and also in La Roja. 2. It's true that their top level gameplay did not come early compared to other top players, I'd say their prime came at 24-25, but when it started they both offered high quality gameplay for straight 7-8 years. They were so regular on their gameplay every match, something that is really really hard to keep, not many top players can achieve it. I don't think Zizou nor Pirlo are in the same boat on this, even if their quality is at the same level and also have superlative highlights. 3. I never considered number of titles a very determinant factor in order to compare players of this level (Messi won't win a World Cup and for many is still considered the GOAT) but it's a fact that Xavi and Iniesta have (way) more titles than the other two or almost any midfielder that comes into this. And again, they were obviously crucial in the journey. For all this, we were lucky to enjoy these true masters of football and it will take many years until we see something close. Remember, we probably see players of similar quality, or even better, sure, but the hardest thing is to keep that top level every match, for years. That is something only a very few high top players in history managed to achieve (in any position of the field) if you think about it.

Así es compañero, yo ya ignoro como iniesta no pudo ganarlo en su día, pero sinceramente me da igual, sólo disfruto de su fútbol genuino y mágico, fuera de las estadísticas, en sus mejores años iniesta siempre en mi opinión, ha sido el mejor, un jugador que aparece en los partidos importantes y cuando su equipo lo necesita, lástima su poca capacidad goleadora sino hubiera sido mucho más reconocido y valorado.
