I wonder what the tease about Pinball from Samus Hunter means. Hopefully they’re not referring to mission based stuff or something lame like that. One idea is that Prime Pinball had a local multiplayer function where people would race to see who could get a higher score quicker. NS2's success won't hinge upon a masterpiece top seller at launch, although it would help. Will people buy into the concept again? It was novel to have a powerful handheld; now it's just one of a million. Will there be a good cadence of software? We shall see.

That's why I think they should not price it above $399.99. Keep it significantly cheaper than the more high end models like the steam deck oled, rog ally x, lenovo legion go. Families and casuals will be attracted to the affordability and not to mention it's a console which is easy to operate vs something like a pc handheld which may require more tinkering or configuration depending on the one.

@@themblan it’s like I said before, for a Nintendo system to have a successor, the successor has to have something that the predecessor didn’t have or couldn’t do. Similar as the Gamecube may have been to the N64 with 3D gaming being the trend for each, the N64 for instance couldn’t control multiple characters at the same time which is a feature demonstrated in the GameCube title Pikmin.

I don't think any leaker knows the true launch lineup, they won't know anything about EPD software for example. Personally I don't have a problem with Prime 4 being the "launch" game, Mario Kart and 3D Mario will come within the year and make the appropriate splash with the mainstream. Let Beyond get that much needed early adopter sales to try growing the brand, Mario can take care of the holiday season.

You may be right, but the console will need something bigger to push sales; Metroid would be a brilliant single player companion to an Animal Crossing or Mario Kart release as it would mean the console isn't fully reliant on back compat and online play at launch. However, I don't think Nintendo can push this out without a system seller though, and I struggle to imagine that Nintendo isn't wise enough to ensure there are multiple games at launch to get people on board as quickly as possible.

Devil's advocate hat on... It can be interpreted that that Samus Hunter is talking about the MP2&3 remasters. It'd make sense those have been shelved to be Switch 2 or at least cross platform, and to be released upon MP4 being given a release date as part of the first year line up (but like, month 2 or 3 title, given that timeline). Devil's advocate hat off... I'd love it to be a launch title and that could be amazing for the series. It still feels weird to me that it'd get the spot over a long awaited 3D Mario... BUT if the Switch 3 is trying to show the Switch 2 as a series, AAA console, them leading with MP4 with it's AAA-level quality (as has been indicated) to show first party games standing alongside the third party ones we expect to being pushed in the first year line up to draw sales.

I could see it being not a launch title and a launch title at the same time. What I mean by this is that given switch 2 being capable of playing switch 1 games, it could just release for standard switch only. But by buying the switch 2, you'd have an enhanced experience. I think we sort of expect the zelda launch title experience with it being a dual launch title. But what if they have code such that is found in pmttyd that upscales the game depending on the platform. It would not need you to buy a specific version when it can run on either or.

SamusHunter didn't neccesarily suggest Metroid Prime 4 would be a launch title, only that they wouldn't be playing it until the Switch 2 launch. If the game is cross-gen and comes a month or two earlier then there will be people who simply don't play it on Switch 1 and wait to play it on the new console to experience it with the more impressive graphics. SamusHunter wouldn't be the only one who does this - I'm considering it myself if this ends up being the release plan.

They might try to replicate BotW launch with MP4, remember they launched Zelda into the 30+ mil games sold, so they probably thinking to do that with MP4, especially if it also has multiplayer. They could also easily launch Switch 2 with a 3D Mario game since the last entry was in 2017. Regardless both options would be awesome!

I think the cryptic leak has to do with something Metriod Pinball related and something Star Fox related being released in some form during the launch period of the Switch. Maybe NSO related or a remake. Who knows?

I wish Nintendo would treat the Metroid series as a cross between the original Prime game and the halo series. Samus could show up to planets that metroids are infesting or “conquesting” to bring the fight! Civilian resistance groups could assist her with vehicles and supplies.

I could actually see the Switch 2 launching with both Prime 4 and Mario Kart, one being a single player focused action/adventure game and the other being a multiplayer focused racer I don't think one they would cannibalize each other as much as say if Prime 4 launched alongside 3D Mario, especially if the Switch 2 launches in the summer Mario Kart would be a great summer break game. Or alternatively they could pair Prime 4 with a more casual game like Animal Crossing or Nintendogs

Solely on the fact that MP4 is the only game with the marketing started, you can predict it being a launch title. Then, you consider that early buyers of Switch2 are likely buying for themselves so a “family” game like MK or Mario won’t be needed till the Christmas season. Then, you pile on the need for a unique system seller that shows “you don’t have this game at home” so you need to buy a Switch 2. I would predict MP, an unannounced game (monolith soft? 😮), MK and Mario (in that order) being the launch game.

I think it makes no sense, or at least it will not be the only title at launch. Metroid cater to the West, sales in Asia have been low for previous Metroid titles, especially Prime. Even if Nintendo push it, launching with a "low" seller in your home region made little sense imo. You want this type of game after building an initial install base (Metroid Dread shipped 270k units in JP).

If Nintendo really wants a good launch title, a 3D Mario or Mario Kart would do the trick. Japan is a great example of how Metroid isn’t a huge market as it’s more catered for the western audience. I have some rebuttles to your points mase in the video. While it is true they won’t sell 20 million at launch, there IS a rumor suggesting there’s at least 6-7 millin units ready at launch which still suggest a huge seller ar launch. In regards to having a Mario game to feature along aide the Mario movie, 2D Mario is also a good candiate for theat, especially when you consider Wondder also kinda did the same thing so they could still have a 3D Mario or Mario Kart ad thr launch title and Holifay game. Also let’s not kid ourselves here, most 3rd oarty games that launch on Nintendo platforms, tend to be rather lackluster compared to their other versions… so treleasing them around a System Seller or Modest seller wouldn’t make THAT much of a difference given the previous history of Nintendo versios of multiplatd 😅. I DO however accept that if Prime 4 has multiplayer(hpefully like Hunters) that it will be not only a good launcg title but potentially huge seller in fact I think Multiplayer(and the other thing Hardcore Metroid fans groan at hearing) are like the main eays the series can elevate to that higher sales tier the fanbase wants it in,

Of course Metroid Prime 4 will be cross gen. Nintendo is not going to release a major AAA game on ONLY their last gen console, especially after their successor console already releases. I'm not sure it will be a launch title, as that depends on when Prime 4 is scheduled to release. All I know is it'll be launch day 1 on both Switch & Switch 2. Also, Switch 2 will have multiple launch titles. It's not going to be JUST Prime 4 or JUST Mario Kart 9.

I guess I don't really like this scenario because of what it would mean for Metroid Prime 4 and the Switch 2, to have two versions that only differ in graphic fidelity and cosmetic elements. In the case of Breath of the Wild or Twilight Princess the cross-gen element wasn't an issue because the new consoles were in the same ballpark in terms of power as their predecessors, they didn't really need to show off anything. Here for Switch 2 we're hoping for a big jump in power and I would hate it to be demonstrated only by prettier graphics. That it can run a prettier version of a Switch game is just ... Who cares ? In that way it feels as a disservice to both the game, to not really be taking advantage of the Switch 2 when it could have (honestly at this point I think people would have been happier if all this time brought something really impressive for the series) and to the console, to have no first party title actually showcasing its capacities. I think one of WiiU's biggest issues is that nothing came on it from Nintendo that actually took advantage of the hardware for a long time, none of Nintendo's titles went beyond prettied up 128 bits games until it was too late. Third parties are nice, but those who want those on a portable device already have a steam deck.

Well, yes that would be nice to have it for the launch, but I think that we will have a DK or a F-Zero game instead of Mario because of the fact they pushed these licences since some times. MP 4 will be more on the second half of the year and a Mario Game at the end of 2025. That's my guess ;)
