Why even bother with any of it? They had the place for thousands of years and didn't make anything worth a darn anyhow. Anything they do now is entirely off the backs of western technology and ideologies. No other nation throughout history would be so naive to give the conquered this much power over them.

If they had advanced at even 10% of the speed of any other civilisation they would have easily had nuclear power and weapons, a space program, satellites, fighter jets etc. Long before any "colonisers" arrived. If they followed the trajectory they were on, they probably never would have achieved the standard of living they enjoy today.

Tony Abbott is a great man. I wish he could come to Britain and be PM here. It is unfathomable why the people of the English speaking world, who have achieved so much in science, medicine, technology, health and human happiness, rid the world of Nazism and established the very idea of inalienable personal liberty and equitable law, should now be told to despise themselves. We should despise those who defame us. Not tip billions of taxpayers' hard-earned money into the hands of their corrupt representatives.

Drug abuse, domestic violence, unemployment child sexual assault, poor healthcare outcomes and poor educational outcomes .etc These are issue endemic to isolated Aboriginal communities and will exist for as long as these communities exist. The government needs to stop bankrolling the continued existence of isolated aboriginal communities and focus on jobs programs and other measures to integrate them into regular Australian society. The vapid attempts perpetuate the continued practise of a hunter-gather cultural in the present is wrong-headed and harms everyone involved. @@fenlander7114 No, that's not correct. - The increased rates of drug abuse, domestic violence and child sexual assault are a function of the reduced policing resources available in isolated communities and deliberately reduced oversight under the guise of 'indigenous self-determination' [basically allowing them to make-up their own laws in those communities]. - Poor healthcare outcomes, educational outcomes and job opportunities are a function of the reduced access to hospitals, schools and employment hubs in isolated communities. Cities have better hospitals, schools and more employment opportunities. The lack of resources and opportunities for isolated communities is a natural consequence of them being isolated communities.

_'The intelligence what was brewing here was absent.'_ Of course,.The mission of the NGOs and gov't workers is not to have their fingers on the community's pulse but to foment revolution. The indigenous population is merely a shield for them to hide behind. And when riots like this occur the outcome inevitably is more money 'for the communities', which means more resources for the revolutionaries. most elders have gone to where the money is , the cities or major towns . With all the money being spent on the Aboriginals , you could possibly buy a home for them and give them a stay at home wage . If you asked every Aboriginal what they truly wanted , then they were given what they wanted , they would still want more . What ever you give to todays people , the next generation would want that and more .. Then the next generation after that would ask for the same thing . Point is , there will never be peace , there will always be racism . Solution , get off your butts and get a job . Look at the state of the communities , rubbish , car bodies , lawns not mowed , houses falling down / vandalised , you get the point . All other towns communities etc have to do there own clean up , in most cases , so what 's so different with the First Nations people . That's right , we are paid by the Government to do nothing . You do a great job Andrew Bolt , please keep it up .

It's a very attractive ideology: you are perpetually oppressed (and consequently often get a free pass), can justify any sense of grievance you have as being somebody else's fault, and all of this attracts a lot of $$$, provided by guilty oppressors. This generally only benefits the middle-class of any oppressed group, and their allies, who live very well off the funds and grants, which rarely trickle down to provide benefits to the working classes. File under identity politics, multiculturalism.

Well said Andrew. All these problems are not being dealt with as they just use band aids and make policies on the run. I agree with Senator Price, first job is a total audit of the Aboriginal industry. The amount that is spent in eye watering. Building new houses in remote communities is not a good idea as there is no jobs for the adults and no future for the kids. Integration is what is needed. Welfare causes more problems as it is just a money train and people end up losing interest in working and building a better life. Children should be removed if they are being abused, doesn't make any difference what the colour of their skin is. Listen to Jacinta Price and Warren Mundine, they have practical solutions to these problems.

All aboriginal elders, leaders and aboriginal organisations have failed our indigenous first Australians. With all the billions of $ the government has handed out over many years one must ask where has the money gone? Who has benefited from the handouts. It seems certainly not the local indigenous communities. The current govt is totally inept and won’t/can’t solve the problem. I just hope when the Lib/Nat get back into power they will put a stop to all this waste and put forward a plan that will serve the people whom the money is I tended for. Enough is enough.

We showed up at 7am to install a solar powered phone box at a remote community 150 km south of Broome. " Need to speak to the boss ", said my boss. " That'll be me", said a lady, chopping up some mull. " Ya wanna beer? Wanna cone? Me and the other off-sider looked at each other, amused. " No, no, said boss, need to see your plans, we're Gunna be diggin' across your community". " I dunno nuthin about no plans, says she. " But they were brought here 3 weeks ago, where's your electrical, your sewerage, your water? We can't dig if we don't know where anything is!" She shrugs. " I dunno about no plans!" So back to Broome we drive on an hourly rate. We got paid. Guess who paid though, not the boss. . .

Well I have an Aboriginal daughter in law and I have never heard her complain ever about the way that Aboriginals have and are being treated by our current society. It seems to me that the whole issue that is being fiercely debated right now is being driven by a few true well educated Aboriginals and a great number of individuals who are claiming Aboriginal ancestry and frankly they are the ones who are instigating and/or promoting division amongst us all. This funding should go to those Aboriginal communities who are living in those remote areas without even clean water to drink let alone decent housing and living conditions.

The perpetual pendulum swings like this- " You're not aboriginal, you don't think like us, we need to make our own decisions. You fund us, and we'll show you the improvements". Some years later, millions of dollars have disappeared, no improvement is observed. " What do you expect comes the cry, you can't expect to drag us into the 21st century overnight, we need help!" And the pendulum swings back to where it started. Fact one, the stolen generation were not stolen, they were rescued. Sadly, when they graduate m, they become lawyers for the stolen generation. (To quote one of their own terms): it ‘ALWAYS WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE’ about perpetrators of these sordid crimes … and the families protecting them … taking responsibility and stepping up to expose the problems and accept assistance towards finding solutions. The longer it is tolerated the harder it will be to fix it and the greater the trauma and damage done - it will become more entrenched and generational. This has had more of an impact than ‘colonisation’ ever did. It’s blame shifting.
