It's so sad that it wasn't nominated... but I guess the reason is because of what Andrew said here, is about a failure, and in some way a critique of the industry as a whole, I guess the academy doesn't like that... also, maybe the fact that's directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda (he's nominated for best song already) AND is a Netflix movie affected it too. I really hope Andrew wins for best actor tho ♥

He speaks so beautifully about everything. It's pure poetry. I adore how much understanding he has for Broadway, musical theatre and Jonathan Larson. The whole film is absolutely incredible and the attention to detail is astonishing. Even without watching behind the scenes, you can feel how much love was put into this project

A sequel of Tick Tick Boom would be the behind the scenes of RENT. I could imagine the plot about Jon meeting the original cast, their workshops and how they were affected about Jon’s passing before their opening preview’s show. The final scene is all of them singing La Vie Bohemme

The story of a failure. This is so perfect and so inspiring. This failure, as Andrew said, produced the diamond of Jonathan's masterpiece, Rent. It's a lesson about life, and resilience, and persistence, which are the keys for success. Amazing movie, it deserved an Oscar nomination and Andrew deserves to win the Academy Best Actor award.

This movie is a masterpiece! Everyone who’s involved in making it has really put their heart and soul into it and you can feel that when you watch it. It’s a big love letter to Jonathan Larson and his legacy. And for me personally as a young-adult I can really relate to the struggle of growing up and choosing to follow your dreams or just accept life as it is. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions with beautiful music and beautiful people. This movie has a place in my heart forever and I’m sure many people feel the same way! it’s difficult to express how much this film means to me. ive always wanted to pursue an artistic career but never actually believed in myself or got the support i needed. this has made me realise how important my art is to me and that im gonna continue doing this even if it doesn’t immediately work out. it has made me reevaluate whats most important in life to me which is passion, dreams and not settling for a life that is just _okay_ . they did a wonderful job of telling jonathan larsons story

I cannot tell you how Tick… Tick… Boom just tick all the boxes for movie musical, an autobiography movie, it doesn’t show the success of a person, it shows the failure leading up to the success, knowing how everyone is going to go through the failure one way or another. And the way Jonathan Larson really did shape and change the musicals we see now, making a new revolution if you ask me. But the last song, hits hard, ‘Louder than words’ has to be my favourite song, especially because it leaves us hanging, like how life leaves us hanging with lots of questions, and the song ending with the melody to happy birthday just makes it hit even harder, knowing another year of your life has passed, and you feel like you’ve down nothing extraordinary but in reality living is already extraordinary.

I’m 24 now and I visited New York City 10 years ago for less than a week with the creative arts department (I studied Music) of my school. We danced with a member of the broadway cast of Chicago in one of the studios they rehearsed in then saw the show; a bunch of jetlagged 15 year old brits poking each other in the audience to stay awake and not miss any part of the show. Very surreal and I still miss being there sometimes and I’m not sure if I will ever get the chance again but I think this film captures the magic of NYC and musical theatre.
