Good combo of false, slapping and natural harmonics blended in with taps. The ending arpeggio was great. Masterful performance and a very beautiful tune. Thanks for sharing.

So much emotion..........most finger style players just bang away. You are amazing. I am speechless. I grew up listening to Michael Hedges because my dad is such a huge fan. Wait till he hears you. You'll have 2 new fans.

Sorry I didn't write you about this earlier, I just read it today... thanks for the compliment, man... it's funny, a lot of my students they just smack and thwak the guitar here and there and it doesn't mean anything. I wrote this song to kind of show how you can do it that extensively and make it work. The basis of this composition was essentially this. I wanted melody bass and chords just like any solo guitarist, but I wanted the chords to be the highest part of the song... (continued)

Hi there andrew! Im a big fan of yours i simply cannot stop watching your videos I love this piece man is it on any of your records ? Greets and good luck with everything you are very talented

Haha!!! That's funny you should ask, Erik and I have both been playing Rainsongs for about 5-6 years now, kind of independently from each other... then I see him and he sees me and we go, "there can only be one!!!" hehehe Except I think he still runs Fishman in his guitar, while I'm using a Trance system. A truly divine sound experience with this pickup! But unfortunately you cannot hear it on this video :(

40 years ago talent like this would land a guy a contract. Now it's back to playing in parks, subways and on corners. Quo vadis, mundi?

hey thanks! No I didn't write the music of August Rush... that was mostly Kaki King but she also played a Michael Hedges song in there. As far as my record goes, I don't have any hard copies over at CDBaby right now, but that's why I have two links... if you aren't concerned with havin a hard copy, just go to the other link and you can get it off iTunes... thanks so much for the nice words and I hope your predictions are correct!

I can't believe I'm finding out about your music just now! You're amazing, and in my hometown, even. :P I wish you much success and sure wish I could hear you live. I don't find any mention of upcoming shows on your myspace. :(

the new record sounds pretty killing!!!! But I haven't really heard the whole thing, just slices here and there

So here you notice that not once do I play a full-on chord without it being with harmonics. This song is definitely one of the easier ones that I do, but it's really boring unless it's phrased well. I phrase it about 6/10 on this video... there are a lot of notes that I hear that you aren't hearing because I didn't play them hehehe. On the next record this track should be on there and will have the phrasing that I'm talking about... in any case cheers to thoughtful abuse rather than irrational!!

I was looking into learning guitar i spend day in day out prepping myself for when i make a purchase. Just as we speak learning how to tune and play basic chords and read tabs on the help vids here. Ive been to see Erik live, Andy Mckee, Don Ross and they were all an amazing experience so i guess im kind of lame for not learning sooner! Ide love a Rainsong but im looking at like $3000 for one :(

both "polygons" and this track are executed hella dankly, except for the gnar-filter you decided to go with on this one. pierk blacks.

excellent - whats the reverb on the guitar? - was it added later?

I want to play natural harmonics like that. That way a lot of my ideas in my head would sound right. But I can't do them properly without muting the strings competely. how...? Overall, your tone is beautiful. The song itself is greatly filled with emotion. I really enjoyed listening.

Your way of composing is really creative. Are you a Hedges son ? May be I could buy your album Keep on.

Whenever I see somebody that starts hitting his guitar, knowing its done badly 99% of the time, i get the creeps. But when its been done with panache, precission and good taste- LIKE HERE- I look at my guitar with the taught:"maybe I'll start hitting here today....lol

LOL! "Not to be a fag, but I wanna do you" would be even better!!! It's always good to hear that I've inspired someone. My life is hard a lot of the time and these little back pats are great :) Why don't you post a couple vids man? I'll check em out! Take care -AG
