Hey, very nice to hear a Michael Hedges style song with a strong melody. So many guys out there are just tapping away with no sense of the melody or musicality that Michael had. Great job!

Hey man! Well, I can't hand you a musical image in writing, but I can give you this! Honestly no one is really in charge of what their musical direction is. When I started playing, I didn't have any direction. After finding records I liked, I began a journey into being a fusion player, like Allan Holdsworth. I got wrapped up in fingerstyle guitar by learning Steve Howe's work. From there it was just a matter of learning more of the tops' tunes. Then you branch out and say something yourself.

I just realized that macs don't come bundled with the same kinds of software I used to use on PC to shackle them all together, so they're a little delayed. I'll make new videos tomorrow most likely of a couple other songs, but in the meantime thanks for watchin y'all!!

But if I were asked 10 years ago if I'd be moving in this direction, I'd say no. The musical journey is full of surprises, and your image and sound takes lots of turns here and there. Bill Evans once said that it is a mistake to estimate your musical goals prematurely. He has become my greatest influence and I think this statement speaks directly to my approach. The best approach is to simply have an open mind and a hunger and desire to learn everything that you appreciate.

thanks a lot dude!!! the tuning is CGDEBE, an open C maj9 tuning with 2 3rds... the close tuning between the 3rd/4th string is the secret behind all those rich chords hehe

That's a good point. I don't know if I want to go with Candy Rat, but Solid Air seems a more legitimate label. Ideally I'd like to sign with someone like ECM records, or another label which specializes in modern instrumental composers but is not specific to the guitar. It's difficult to legitimize my electronic music that features the guitar being released on a label like Candy Rat Records or Solid Air... If will has a new label I am going to send one to him IMMEDIATELY.

So, the tuning for this song is CGDEBE. Why not try to learn it? :) I also am eventually coming out with a book that discusses the entire lineage of fingerstyle guitar, going from Merle Travis/Chet Atkins style all the way through Michael Hedges (and a little beyond).

lol! thanks! I have the same issue with those guys. I think it has to do with formal composition training, cos I've had a little bit of that, and mike had a lot of that. I'm glad the melody was intelligible here, you can never tell with your own music. The guitar's out of tune, so I know exactly how it's supposed to sound but I often wonder if I'm filling the spaces with what I expect to hear and that's not coming through... anyway, thanks!!!

I just heard your bass work with the smooth jazz guitarist Gary Wolfe. I call it work, because I can't imagine that is "art" to you. Good time feel though, I heard a nice semi-pentatonic solo and NICE pentatonic basslines... you're right, this is a very average progression. Check out "Eva" by Joe Locke, that's simple too. Doesn't have to be hip all the time, but my jazz charts are rough. I am not sure you could play over my jazz charts. You can't play pentatonics over my tunes.

Have you sent a demo to Solid Air Records or Candy Rat? Both acoustic guitar labels. You know Will Ackerman started his own label recently called New Horizons (I think). You should send them a demo.

And dont forget the Reverand Gary Davis, who knocked me out 30 years ago after Id styled myself after Ramblin Jack and Mississippi John Hurt. But the Reverand was not copy-able. He was just too much.

Yes your right hand is great, but I think your music is in your left hand. So I hope your book discusses the chords, their relationship to each other and how to move from one to another. Im still working on Bisous, and still in "D shape". But I see the advantage of E in that when you go to the next octave its easier in E. But boy I have trouble hearing the notes. Its a struggle. This could take a few years. Regards.

Jeremy, I'm no fanboy, but dude, calling this average is like calling George Bush "capable". So your opinion pretty much isn't welcome hahaha XD This has an excellent feel, the tapping is excellent and as Andrew says, its not just pentatonics ;)

honestly, your compositions are, in my opinion, way better than Michael Hedges! i've heard a lot of his tunes, but the only one that i think is really good is Aerial Boundaries. You definately deserve more attention on KZbin, 'cause that is amazing! you just got a new fan, and he is from Denmark! Keep it up!
