Andrew Jackson Jihad is a band that can make me feel better about myself regardless of how desolate and shitty I feel about life. I've spent months of pure searching for other music that can make me feel the same and things like Crywank have come close but... I think the thing about Crywank is that it gives me an emotional response because of how much I relate to the sadness in the music but AJJ makes me feel because I not only relate to it but I also look to it to improve. While it offers lots of depression and anger that Sean feels it also offers the feeling that I can make it better, I can improve. And I'm not sure any other band can do that.

what I try to do is when I'm happy I listen to a certain album that I like anyways (my best one is GI by the germs) over and over again, then when you are sad listen to the album and your mood improves immediately
@ancalabond87038 жыл бұрын
Ali Majeed I'm not saying all their work is extremely relatable but the fact that not 100% of their songs means something on a deep emotional level doesn't discredit the songs that do. Works like "Big Bird" "Linda Ronstadt" and "Lady Liberty" are all immensely capable of transferring emotion and meaning.

@BasementTermites3 жыл бұрын
I think you're right, but I think the premise was more intended to be "look at the cute musical tone combined with amusingly dark lyrics", I doubt the intention was to genuinely trivialize murder of women (also, "femicide" and "banalizing" are two very cool words, thank you for convincing me to google them - very useful words to drop in the future!)

@codyisme19 жыл бұрын
bitterherbs94 it's def not satire on both sides of the issue if you've actually listened to the rest of their music you'd know this entire album is a joke about playing offensive music for shock value. They're making fun of a lot of other folk punk artists for being dumbasses here.
@ghostie61998 жыл бұрын
+Cody Carpenter It's not really a joke, it was just Sean's early attempts at writing songs. He says he isn't really very proud of these songs because they did tend to fall into novelty (his words) and "they were kind of offensive, the way only an 18 year old can be" So the album isn't necessarily a joke (I mean the songs are for sure satire, but that's another story) , they aren't making fun of other folk punk artists, it was just Sean trying to figure out his song writing style, there wasn't some "agenda" to this album, just a kid trying to write songs.
