I Interpreted his comment about what to expect as "we'll be starting with a 2-way, low-efficency, stand-mount design that will resemble a classic audiophile monitor with a modern sound, capable of playing all genres". I predict it will be more stylish than the elac lineup with some pretty cool MoFi branding...$1500-2500 retail.

Few people enjoy talking about speaker designing as much as Andrew. Every interview, every demo, he’s always highly energized and passionate. You can tell here he really wants to spill the beans but knows he needs to hold back. He can’t wait to go into specifics on the MoFi project.

Mofi has made some deft moves with Alan Perkins (Spiral Groove) making their tables and Andrew Jones creating their speakers. Further, Andrew's not sharing too much too soon is the absolute correct approach in today's climate. How many times has the bloom come off of a product after having to wait an additional year or two for production after a pre-ejaculated launch.

I have a pair of Cerwin Vega speakers since 1989.They are I'm my opinion a very high quality speaker, some people will diagree. They are no longer in business only in name .They have an 18 speaker and they have the performance that want to hear.Absolute bass end and very good dispersion in all phases of the listening experience. Andrew Jones is one of the exceptional personnel in his field that knows where is at in his expertise, no repeat performance ever again. He stands alone. It is exciting to see what he comes up as a new reference speaker. THANK YIU FOR THIS POST.

I managed to snag 2 pairs (new in box) of the Pioneer SP-BS41-LR's for $75 bucks. They do the job for me. AJ is truly wonderful to listen to and I am currently enjoying his first foray into affordable hi-fi. If I had money, I'd try some of his other speakers because I like the sound, but then again, I am not an audiophile. Just a guy who spins some vinyl.

Really enjoying seeing Andrew back and doing what he loves with a company that lets him create what his vision is. Good products happen when you hire someone like Andrew who has been loves the company and been keeping an eye on them from afar. Andrew needs to stop talking about the possibility of high efficiency speakers, especially around Miguel. I'm sure Miguel has told Andrew his love for high efficiency horns he has (And expensive !) . It would be interesting to see Andrew design his take on a affordable high efficiency speaker. I have thought about that for many years play with low wattage diy Nelson pass class a amplifiers. Pair one of those amps with a high efficiency new speaker from Andrew that would be a match made in heaven ! Look forward to Andrews new creations and can't wait for more I interviews! Thank you!

I had a similar experience with La La Land Records and their so-called remaster of the Star Trek The Motion Picture soundtrack. In spite of boasting how much work went into it, and who was involved that also worked on the original recording with Jerry Goldsmith, the result was a muffled, compressed, and just plain awful mess. Utterly baffling as they were also responsible for the much, much earlier remaster which sounds superior in every conceivable way.

The problem with that is that you're talking about a guy who's made himself toxic to the industry. To sell his brand. He's shown himself to be the kid who can't play well with others, and instead chose to be an unpredictable wild card type. Not to mention he's shown zero real world proof of his theories. He's basically the extreme far right politician of the audio world expousing conspiracy theories of his own making. So expecting any respectable person, such as anyone involved in these videos you're watching here. To interview, or even simply work with him. Is like expecting a collaboration/interview between Hitler, and Churchill, Putin and Zelensky, or Trump and Obama. Not going to happen. Two completely different types of people that are in direct opposition to each other basically. So don't get your hopes up. That being said. Stranger things have certainly happened before. So there's always that sliver if hope I guess. But besides that this topic has been discussed ad nauseam. You just have to go back to older videos on here, Google it, or ask the question in the proper places. And you'll get your answer, without some one editorializing it to sell his products, like Danny would do anyway.

It's foolish to assume that all consumers for affordable products are new to audio. There are many music lovers that don't have a lot of money and a lot of disposable income, but they still want high quality sound within price ranges that they can afford. That's where products like the Elac Debut series (and similar price speakers from several other well known brands, like PSB, Paradigm, Polk, etc.) and the Cambridge and Yamaha entry level amps shine, because they give buyers true high quality sound for very affordable prices.

Seems like Andrew is admitting that lower efficiency speakers are generally better ie, if you have the power to drive them... Better bass, lower resonances, better choice of materials, smaller magnets, smaller box...Yep, lower efficiency speakers are generally the better choice for audiophiles with decent equipment, and high efficiency speakers are a bigger compromise for budget minded listeners... Seems Andrew's Elac Uni-Fi series are probably the best (bang for buck) speaker ever created for those who have the power to realize their potential... Many reviewers failed to power them properly thus their mediocre reviews.

It would be nice if AJ could improve some nonspeaker aspects of MoFi - such as their record sleeves. Trying to pen the sleeves is very similar to the plastic bags in the produce section of supermarkets - - Frustrating. I emailed MoFi suggesting that a simple cut out on one side of the sleeves would fix the problem. But no response. Similarly, I suggested that they push Dr. Feickert to replace the cheap laptop quality power supplies that comes with their tables with something better (like Regas come with). Again, not even a response. Disappointing.

Folks can argue the "accuracy" point until blue in the face. I've heard all those arguments. MY personal view has never wavered. Accuracy in speakers should be no different than accuracy in amps, DACS, pre amps, etc. Just reproduce what's on the recording w/o adding distortions of any kind. Speakers, as Andrew knows well, are the biggest contributor to distortions in the audio playback chain. Wildly varying frequency response that is room dependent. Over-damped or under-damped woofers are amplifier dependent (Damping factor). I hear all about on axis vs off axis frequency response. FEW listen off axis. What I rarely if ever hear about is time accuracy. Speakers introduce phase shifts (Time delays) via high order crossovers. 1/2 cycle on 2nd order, a full cycle on 4th order. No one gives a shit. We would never accept this in an amplifier. We would consider it broken. Low frequencies lagging the mids and high frequencies? Most speaker designers don't have the math skills to eliminate it so their pre programmed response is "Can't hear it". Can't hear that the tweeter has started and stopped BEFORE the woofer starts? Would amplifier manufacturers argue "Can't hear that"? To my knowledge only Stereophile does step response tests. I would argue it's as important, maybe more important than frequency response or off axis response. Just reproduce what's on the recording. No harmonic, inter modulation or phase distortion added. Simple, yet nearly impossible to find speaker. YMMV
