Great interview. I love listening to interviews with Andrew Jones because he seems like such a humble guy and helps people understand the process of designing a speaker at so many price points. I got the Debut B6 just because I was curious what the fuss was all about and I was just shocked at how good they sounded with nice bass. I compared the speakers to my old JBL 3 way towers with 2 -10" woofers a 3" mid and tweater and while the JBL produced more bass, that is the only thing they did but with less clarity. Get a pair of Debuts with a sub(for home theater) and 99% of you will be really happy.

Wow, thanks for that insight comparing them to the JBL's. They are amazing semi-little speakers aren't they!?

Great interview! Andrew Jones is always so gracious whenever he does interviews and this one was no exception. 13:04 This makes total sense as to why I prefer my B6.2 speakers positioned straight ahead and not toed-in (I prefer rolled-off treble).

Great to know Andrew has a mirror twin whose expertise is electronics. So the big question for me is when can we expect a collaboration to make their own all out statement active speaker?

I've been fortunate enough to both catch an Andrew Jones product demo and speak to him directly at two different audio shows and he's a really a generous "bloke" to use the British parlance. Really open and willing to share his perspective on the industry and deep knowledge. Enjoyed the interview. Great work Joe.

I bought a pair of UB5's and they were so good that I later bought a second pair... So my original $500.00 purchase turned into a $1,000.00 purchase plus another $1,000.00 for a second Marantz receiver... Now that I have music in 2 rooms, I look back at my so-called budget speaker purchase and think to myself.... Hmm, what happened to my bank account! :) ... Yep, seems like Andrew Jones' philosophy of getting more people into audio by way of affordable hi-end sounding speakers is working on me!

I have been testing out some other models from ELAC like the UF5 Debut 2.0 B5.2, F5.2 and I believe the UB5's hit that sweet spot of sound quality and price.

Absolutely. The ub5s have amazing sound. A notch above the others. It's worth the little extra money since you will be living with them for a long time. Save if you have to. Why get good when you can have great for a couple hundred dollars more. :)

Thanks, Joe, for responding to my comments. I really enjoy your videos and look forward to your impressions of the B5.2.
@joentell6 жыл бұрын
The B5.2's are impressive. Same with the original Debut's. The Uni-Fi's are a step above with better midrange, better imaging, smoother highs and deeper bass. You can go wrong with either. Just know that spending extra on the Uni-Fi's is worth it IF you can do it. If not, enjoy the Debut 2.0's and upgrade in the future.
@jackjones76656 жыл бұрын
With these Uni-Fi Elacs, Andrew Jones has essentially altered the entry level market forever! Why would anyone at this price point buy anything else that wasn't equally as fantastic as the Uni-Fi's? The entire market is going to have to rise to the bar set by these Elacs!

Hi Joe, Enjoyed the Interview. What system do you recommend to pair with the ELAC UB 5's?
@joentell6 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video. I assume you're asking for an amplifier recommendation or maybe DAC amp combo. It really depends on your budget, but I like the AD18 that is both a DAC and an amp. It's inexpensive too. I just reviewed it.

Keep up the great work, really great interview. You deserve more followers, I think you just got a new patreon sub. When Andrew mentions the Klipsch in Suits you kind of roll your eyes. I assume you're not a fan? I do have a pair of their floor standing and for music I'll admit they're fatiguing, but I've heard their Reference Premiere line is more balanced out. Would you ever review them given the chance?

@@joentell, yes they were. I have their SL Series. I like them. They are made well and sound very good. Unfortunately, none of the reviewers in the industry have tested or reviewed this line however, they can be found at all of the Pro Audio retailers.
@kirkcunningham61466 жыл бұрын
@Hersey Berry their new line of Pro Audio stuff are getting very good reviews from reputable DJ's and clubs around the world. They put allot into this line and use Class D amplification. There are three options in the series. Ironically, their entry level subwoofer in this line goes lower than the other two which I find strange. They rate most of their speakers and subs at the -10db reference instead of the +-3db

That whole mirror twins thing made no sense. We are used to looking at ourselves in a mirror already. Also, why would the voice of his twins sound like his? This has me really questioning the speaker design logic.
@crazyprayingmantis55966 жыл бұрын
The audio/audiophile business is full of older men, older men seem to listen to certain types of music and I think they design their gear so that it sounds good playing this music. The industry needs younger people designing, playing and listening to their music. Most demos you hear are of music that nobody listens to (unless you're a 65 yr old male into boring audiophile music)
