Grip fighting is the beginning of everything! Such an underrated part of the game.
@AbsoluteADCC
@AbsoluteADCC 3 жыл бұрын
Every move starts with the proper grip or connection. Both gi or nogi, both with hands or feet. What I noticed was that grip fighting is just mentally exhausting, but if you win that battle and then get your own grips, you most likely will dominate.

I have to admit, me having learned Hapkido at a young age really helped me with grip fighting a lot. Hapkido has a lot of wrist/hand locks, breaks, and escapes which is honestly unrealistic but the mechanics of them really works in jujutsu.

Imo how to tap is extremely important. The standard double-tap, the frustrated hard hand tap hit, the foot double/triple tap, and the verbal tap tap tap.

First off, holy shit medals 🏅 🤯 Secondly, I just stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago and needless to say I'm fangirling over your jits game a tad too much 😆. I'm an old ass, purple belt who tends to fall into really bad habits (like letting lower belts lead the dance) so I neglect grip fighting every time. Thank you for re-instilling this very critical technique back into my routine again. Keep up the incredible work you're putting out to the Bjj community. Much respect - Osss 👊🏽

This was fucking awesome. More of this please. I'm still fairly new but I keep going back to grip fighting concepts because they're so damn important. I feel like they're not talked about enough. I was definitely fucking up on not keeping tension in the gi. I'm good on preventing the grip or breaking it as they grab but am having a hard time with my coaches when they really get the grip sunk in because of that very important detail. Thanks man!!
