At one time I was so confused about all the different types of teachings Ive been hearing from not only the local church where I once lived but also from popular preachers. They seem to contradict each other in so many ways or maybe it was just that I was net getting it (At all!). I love them all but I felt like a sheep with out a Shepard. Then came a divorce. My heart was a mess but like Paul Rusbys' comment below I realized I have been a Christian far to long for this. I need results. I need to get it. I need to understand. I need to be a good example and prove Gods good and perfect will in my life. So I googled discipleship thinking if I can take a course in discipleship, that should give me good ground to stand on. Then thats when I found Andrew Wommack Ministries. I listened to "Harnessing Your Emotions" Thank you Jesus!!!! Changed my life! Then found out about Charis Bible College! Wow!!! I have since moved to Colorado Springs recently and will be at Charis Bible College 1/07/2019 for a tour and planning to register for fall 2019! Its a miracle!!! My life will never be like it used to be...Every promise of God is Yes and Amen!!

For so many years I used marijuana daily and never realized until I quit 3 years ago that I depended upon it to insulate my mind from my emotions. I ignorantly assumed I just "enjoyed" being stoned. I truly had no idea I was avoiding emotion. And because I was so heavily dependent upon this crutch I never learned how to manage emotions. I was put on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs but I made a commitment to free myself of those as well so I tapered off and am 3 months post-taper. As far back as I can remember I have been a slave to my emotions and now that I am sober it is like being in a boat on a raging river without a paddle. I am tossed here and there and literally hanging on for dear life in every moment. More than anything I want mastery over emotions.

This is really good and true, but someone with this problem might be overwhelmed by this intro. For example, if I looked up the word "lasciviousness" it has highly sexual connotations. This topic is so neglected though that I can understand why he's making such effort to drive it home. If you already know you have a problem, you might skip this first lesson and come back to it later. I listened to Week 1 lesson 4 first by mistake, and somehow it's helping me get through this one. He mentions something in that one that actually makes the "lascivious" statement make more sense.

Strife and shouting: I made an interesting observation today: I happened to overhear my grandchild's English speaking pod he was listening to. They were screaming to each other all the time and words like "Wow!" were used a lot. I had to tell him that "this is NOT how normal people talk to each other." But it is how children learn how to scream at each other, I'm sure. No control of content in those pods, going straight into children's minds... Control strife at its root RIGHT HERE. Isn't there any Christian alternatives with proper language?

@@scr1231 Morning so sorry to hear that but God. I don't know if you are a believer in Jesus Christ. If you are or not God said speak to your mountain and tell it to go in the sea. Speak to that depression and tell it to go every time you feel it coming on. I am going through challenges but will not talk everything here. So put to action what I said to you and see it work.
