@@jacielroblero13 My biggest issue was the economy. Trump marketed himself as a businessman and promised to put more money in every day working people's pockets. If he could do that, I figured, it was worth voting for a less-than-good candidate. Trump lied. He isn't a businessman, he's just a very successful con artist. Amazon and Wall Street might be doing well but most people I know are still struggling. Andrew Yang is different. For starter's, he's an actual entrepreneur, and also his work in the Obama White House proved that he knows how to help other people succeed also. He has a proven track record, not empty promises. But the most important reason I will be voting for Andrew Yang in 2020 is because his policy proposals put PEOPLE FIRST. Not only does he want to put money in our pockets, but he also has a plan to accomplish that. I like his entrepreneurial spirit. Making money is a great thing; I'd like to be a millionaire one day. I won't support policies that make it harder for regular people to achieve their dreams, I won't support policies that make it hard to start a business and do well. I WILL support policies like the Freedom Dividend because that would empower me and so many other people just like me and give us a leg up on achieving our goals. So that you don't have to be born with rich parents to have a shot at success, so that even people born into nothing know that their country values them and values the great things that they might accomplish one day.

Yang doesn't really want to solve the problem of Corporate domination (and robot automation). If he did, he would advocate *breaking the Corporations up.* That would give the little guy a chance to compete. He wants to *TAX* the corporations, which won't do anything to stop their tyranny. They can afford it. I can make an extra $1000 by getting a $1.00 raise. It won't change my life. I can get more groceries each month...ya!
@justinsanchez86935 жыл бұрын
@@jeanvandorst4287 Raising the minimum wage and forcing businesses to pay more for workers only makes running those businesses more difficult and can potentially shut it down. Yang's freedom dividend not only can reduce stress and improve quality of life, but it allows people to be more flexible with their jobs so they can do the things they want. It also would encourage people to spend their money more, improving the economy as businesses earn more from American spending. Also, Yang is against wealth taxes, as he's shown, based on how poorly it's worked on other countries, they aren't efficient.
@jeanvandorst42875 жыл бұрын
@@justinsanchez8693 I agree, raising the minimum wage is not an optimal solution. But it's way better than taxes. Raising the minimum wage at least puts money in the hands of *the worker.* R@ping businesses with high taxes only enriches *the government.* Yang is a socialist. Instead of promoting it with class warfare he's using a lot of fantasy technobabble to sell it. Yang wants to tax private businesses to death so he can make the government rich. He wants the people dependent on government handouts, just Ike every other socialist. Instead of having hundreds of corrupt corporations oppressing the people you have one *super corporation* (the government) running everything. We need to *break up* the corporations so that the average joe has a realistic chance at starting his own business. Corporations don't just destroy a person's standard of living; they also destroy their spirit. The individual worker is stuck doing some *soul-crushing-repetitive job* that fails to utilize their unique talents and skills. Give the people the means of production and everything will change.
@justinsanchez86935 жыл бұрын
@@jeanvandorst4287 Sorry but Yang isn't a socialist. Socialism is where the government directly controls the market, something that taking money from advertisements and the selling of people's data by big corporations isn't. Yang is doing Human-Centered Capitalism. We spend more money when we have more money, which is what the freedom dividend is for. If we have an extra $1000, that does put money in the hands of, not just workers, but everybody. Then they can spend that money on their own businesses or on something else. Either way, if more people are spending money, more businesses are earning money, therefore, once again, improving the economy. I wouldn't say Yang is using "technobabble" either. He's using statistics, percentages, and data from what has and hasn't worked to influence his decision-making and policies.

@@justinsanchez8693 ". We spend more money when we have more money, which is what the freedom dividend is for. If we have an extra $1000." Where does the money come from? He'll tax everybody to death for this $1000.00 welfare payout. It will be VENEZUELA all over again. Yang's central argument is about automation, and its total BS. There will NEVER be thousands of self-driving cars on US highways, unless your goal is to kill everybody. To make a self-driving car the programmers would have to anticipate every possible situation. Driving is a complex action which requires self-awareness (consciousness), contemplation (thinking) and free-will. Scientists have *no idea* where these things come from - or how they arise. Self-awareness allows a human being to take in his environment all at once. Computers are not self-aware, and they never will be. They are simply executing instructions. It's like tipping over a set of dominoes to produce a result. There is no "thinking" involved. Computers have more in common with a toaster than a human mind. At best you could *program* a car to do very basic things like take a turn or stop at a light. And even then, it would have to be optimum conditions. Put the thing in a snow storm and you''re dead.

I'm not all upset, but I don't believe that for a 10% tax on luxury items, and a tax on data, every adult citizen could have $1000 a month, and that it would be worth close to what it is right now, and the prices would stay about the same. It would be a remarkable plan if it would, but the math doesn't check out. ☺ It takes $2.4T to $2.8T in checks, plus administration fees. Let's look at consumer spending totals to see what a 10% VAT could generate. The total consumer spending for 2018, including healthcare and housing was $12.9T. (10% is $1.29) That means even if EVERY ITEM and EVERY SERVICE we all bought was taxed 10% including our clothes, groceries, pizza orders, Netflix subscriptions, doctor visits rent and all the yachts purchases, it would only be $1.29T. That is not even half of what's needed. If healthcare, rent, staple food, and clothes are subtracted, the consumer spending is $7.1T (10% VAT is only 710B) If the IRS taxed data, the data industry is worth $200B. If the IRS took 100% of it, that's only $0.2T. Deficit spending to give people a ubi, is printing money, and handing it out, but also having the debt of it to repay with interest. Ya don't get dividends on debt. Economist Thursday made a cartoon video in 2014, called, "Why Don't We Print More Money?" It explains in 3 minutes and 38 seconds why, if the government gave us all money, we end up right back in the same place. It won't help anyone. Its oversimplified, but illustrates the principle. I put it on a playlist on my channel if anyone wants easy access to it (don't worry I don't make videos ). ☺ There's also a video about the EU VAT, on the playlist, that's super easy to understand. "What is VAT and how does it work? Will's Whiteboard" on channel Avalara. ☺ Estimated welfare programs saving are $161,576B according to Yang freedom-dividend website. Estimated costs to collect the extra taxes, determine eligibility, prevent fraud, and get checks out on time. Unknown

@@fieldflower7916 what if they did direct deposits requiring everyone receiving a freedom dividend to have an active open checking account? It would generate more bank jobs.
@imurbeau865 жыл бұрын
@@fieldflower7916 If you listen to his full proposal on a longer show, he also discusses how to pay for it. Part of it would be closing a lot of other social assistance programs. When he worked it out, only .8T needed to come from the VAT tax. The rest was seen through closure of excess programs as well as less spending on other drains like crime and addiction because people in harder circumstances will not feel the pressure as greatly if a hard period hits. The $1k a month isn't a job replacement, it's a marginal safety net for those that are more at risk and allows younger people slightly more freedom to seek education without fearing that they might suddenly end up homeless or in over their heads.

I work for one of the largest tech companies in the world and 90% of all Silicon Valley startups purchase from us. About 50% of all new startups buying from us are ai and machine learning based businesses. For example, one is automating surgery to make a doctor's job easier but their end game, which is not hidden, is to fully automate surgery. Radiologists are going to be losing their jobs in a few years. All Uber and Lyft drivers will lose their jobs - those companies are really in the business of self driving technology. Have you seen the self driving taxi/Uber in Las Vegas, which started this year? Have you noticed that Ford is now invested in the rental bicycle, scooter, and shuttle business? They are preparing for when we don't have the need to "own" a car. This is also why the Automobile Club of So. California (a staple for car insurance and roadside service) has started a home repair subscription business. They see themselves out of business if they don't adapt. Cameras plus recognition software can record and tally things on a job site (construction, farming, civil engineering, etc) and is already being sold and implemented right now. The McDonalds near me is one of the busiest and only has "one" live order taker at the counter but many touchscreens to place your order. I have estimated that my job will be replaced by a call center (already in place) and corporate online sales portals (already in place) in 2 years and then those call center jobs will go soon after. But you don't have to take my word, google and search crunchbase and do your due diligence and you'll find the names of multiple companies doing or working on all these things now, not in 10 years. Even if you don't lose your job soon, how fast would you and your partner save for a down payment on a house with UBI providing you $24K/yr ($12Kx2)? How much more secure would you feel if you retire with social security plus $1000/month than without it? How much is your childcare per month? What would you do with an extra $1000 a month?

The only thing I still don’t compute is the VAT part. I used to live in Europe and very familiar with it, both as a consumer and business owner. Even if it’s only supposed to finance I think around $800B for Yang’s UBI program, it’s hard not to see how that tax won’t drive prices up, and therefore impact everyone. When you add, say, a 10% VAT on a product, what do you think will happen? That amount will be incorporated in the retail price. Same thing happens with Trump’s stupid Tariffs increase for Chinese products, importers add that amount to their wholesale price and down the road it’s us, consumers who pay the bill, certainly not Chinese manufacturers, nor importers themselves. Bottom line is, we would all lose a bit of buying power because of it, so in fact those $1,000 you get won’t be worth the same as $1,000 pre- VAT implementation. More like $900 in today’s money (if VAT is 10% or roughly half of European VAT as suggested by Andrew). Or am i missing something?

No he wont...I like Yang, but I am reconsidering after this video. He avoided the question about the mic. That was not a conspiracy that was the TRUTH. When you get bullied you speak up, you do NOT let ppl push you around. If he had called out MSNBC in this interview, that would have helped him in the polls, this video might have been trending. In the next debate they might pull a stunt with the mic again since they know he won't speak out about it. Also if he is a leader for our country will he just shut his mouth and avoid issues. To me that is a sign of weakness. The last thing we need is a weak leader for our country. #Speakupyang

The people complaining that his $1K a month Freedom Dividend is bad are the same ones that would love to get it by cutting their taxes.They do not see that they are essentially the same however that simple $1K a month would eliminate most homelessness and hunger in the US. It would also reduce crime and especially the recidivism rates of "career criminals" since they would not receive it while incarcerated. It would reward stay-at-home mothers which is shown to increase the likelihood of better adjusted children and remove so much stress that families endure with financial issues. The time has come to fix these problems and move forward instead of sideways on these and other issues. #YangGang #MATH

I'm a military Veteran as well and can attest to the difficulties some vets have and if you're homeless it's even more difficult to get help. When organizations that offer assistance see you're a military veteran you'll be deferred or denied service because will claim you have the VA instead....but little do they know just how much of a circus act it can become trying to get help from the VA. The number for their department that helps homeless vets isn't even listed in their directory if you call them and that tells you all you need to know about that.

It’s interesting that no one asked him how he’d GET the money to pay for this UBI. Yang says on day 1, he will sit down and start sending out checks. Without Congress? It’s basic civics. The Executive doesn’t have the purse. He’ll have to work with members of Congress. Good luck getting the budget hawks on board with pushing more debt into the future. I doubt his plan will roll out the way he thinks it will. Yang will have to compromise. The same reason why I knew Trump wouldn’t get his wall unilaterally. But Yang APPEARS to have solutions. Vote for him because he has a math hat. Businessmen don’t always make good presidents.
