The city has improved in the last 10 years...however, it became more difficult for mid to low income people/families to live there. Crime in NYC increased before ‘defund the police took effect’. The PBA made it known to their officers/members to take a hands off approach to every aspect of policing, during the initial conception of defunding the police. Why not take resources ($) from crime response to crime prevention? A lot of the crime is related to socioeconomic issues, and placing a superficial bandaid over it is not problem solving!

Judges must have the ability to remand repeat/violent offenders. Who is advocating for the victims?" The solution is more police and more jail time -- not less police and less jail time. I'm generally open to and usually williing to simply bow to minorities calling out bias or discrimination. This, however is just an unfortunate moment when Andrew Yang feels the need to save himself via distraction at the cost of cheapening the progressive and anti-racist cause. The cartoon uses the word tourist in a way that points to the lack of tourists due to the pandemic being solved by Yang who comes into this race aligning himself with the working/lower middle class and claiming to know what it takes to run NYC without having a basic understanding of the city or the experiences of its constituents. He's doing harm to political discourse on the topic of race to serve his own interests which makes him the same as all the rest.

@@harryskywalker6814 but it's not about whether he was born in New York state. It's about NYC. Where he is running for mayor. New Yorkers(city) don't tend to take kindly to people who adopt the New Yorker angle without having a certain New York City experience which is problematic also, but I'm just pointing out how it makes perfect sense for them to refer to him as a tourist in this manner, as they want somebody who is a "true" New Yorker to be their mayor. I'm not going to deny that it's not a well thought out choice when it comes to a history of Asian Americans being treated like or called tourists.
