@@orilion1820 We can. It's just the medieval institutions that hold back that technology because, well, money. It's more profitable to sell medicines than it is to cure a disease. And if having a replacement organ was as profitable as a new phone every year, you can be sure we'd have replacement organ technology right now.

Same here. Problem is most people aren't concerned with principles, facts, or logic for the majority of their decision making. Most people have no interest in effectuating change in their environment in much the same way we ignore the fact of getting older. Change happens TO people and then they learn to cope or incorporate cognitive bias to deny reality. Yang's approach pleases thinkers and operators but does a garbage job appealing to base emotions. It frustrates and saddens me. He has no ideology to capture people's hearts. He could be a quality figurehead for classical liberalism. He could stir a call to action by emphasizing traditional family values as a key cornerstone of society and lean on the wildly popular child tax credit as a carrot to get people to the polls. I hate the uniparty too but I just don't see how explaining that the parties are bad for democracy will lead to the dissolution of their power.

Yang, if you read these comments, to help get your point across better, remember that people don't actually know much about most things. Try stating that changing incentives is what will change the system at its core. When most people hear the word incentives, to them it's a side process, a payoff, something that helps people on the fence. It's not realized that it can mean a systematic driver of behavior.

What do they find so hard to get? Why is she still talking about third party allowing extremism when the whole point is to get rid of the spoiler effect which allows that? Bill, on the other hand, seems to just be interested in Andrew taking controversial points, so that he can get his headlines and clickbait. A politician taking a reasonable approach and rooting for America and democracy is just so unthinkable to him that he's just not getting it. The questions he asks: "Why do you care about the Democratic Primary if you're not a Democrat anymore?"; what a dumb question. Well, Bill why do you do long segments on Trump and the Republican Party then? I think it's pretty clear that this is a partisan exercise to stomp down on the new party before it grows even bigger. If you're paying attention, you'll notice that most of the attacks are coming from the Democratic Party and their affiliates (e.g. MSNBC). Yang called out the way the Democratic Party benefited from the two party system, and exploited the two party system, by supporting extremist Republicans over moderate ones. They are really showing their true colors. I'm supportive of President Biden, but I'm really starting to sour on the Democratic Party. Yang is right, we need more choices, and while I support President Biden, I agree with Yang that the Democrats should settle their uncertain succession, and I agree that Gov. Whitmer is a strong contender. Real people are worried about the future of America and American Democracy, while Democrats are worried about the future of their own party and power. We need to change the system.
@mybetterdays4511

Andrew needs to say more plainly that only a third party can advance a change in the system because otherwise it will be perceived as a partisan issue to benefit one side. And from there, many parties will be possible, requiring cooperation and compromise that can move things forward.

But might I also add: please don't forget the avenue of podcasts, which has worked so well for you in the past. I personally watch your Forward-focused podcast. But more specifically, being a guest on others' podcasts is what really propelled your 2020 run initially. You certainly have the ability (with your name recognition) to reach a wider audience with less time going with "major media" appearances. But in order to move beyond the previous message of UBI and your other commonsense policies and towards spreading the ideas around Forward, I think you need to do the hard work and start at the "bottom" again by participating in more longform discussions. That way you can re-form another grassroots movement to propel your ideas to a place that again can no longer be ignored or ridiculed by media pundits. Well, they will still try-but you'll again have the people behind you fighting for our shared ideals of a better civilization.

The founding fathers were even afraid of a two party system. They knew people would tend to be loyal to party and not country. It's sad that most don't understand how government operates. Really need to take a Political Science course to get a good grasp of how governments operate in other Democratic countries. Our system is flawed if two parties dominate. Thing that makes it worse is we constantly go from one party to the other and back. Which allows nothing to ever get accomplished, because it takes years to implement policies.

@@scifirealism5943 In one of the UBI discussions he mentioned that when it almost passed in1969, a Dem politician said "but who will clean our toilets?". The answer is, of course, that the cost of cleaning toilets would rise to its natural free market value based on the unpleasantness of the task. You can artificially depress wages for the worst jobs with the threat of extreme poverty. Since the same argument applies to the SECOND to worst jobs, you get at least slightly lower cost of labor up to the point where the difference between careers doesn't affect quality of life (studies have shown that this is about $70k in the US but its probably higher now with inflation).

Man, I do not regret the money spent on this man’s campaign. First time I’ve ever spent money for anything political and something I truly believe in. Really was hoping for another run but that’s alright.

If people are still confused about the party then just keep it simple. Forward Party is about keeping democracy and ending polarization. Two main platforms. 1) Open primaries. 2) Rank choice voting.

At this time, the only platform is change the system by instituting ranked choice voting and open primaries wherever possible. Once that is achieved, the door will be open for many parties. Andrew will run again on same platform as 2020. He is just as committed as before, but sees that nothing can happen until we fix this corrupt system that is getting worse by the minute.

Great conversation. Mr. Yang has diagnosed a big problem (2 parties is a struggle to the death, while the rest of us are helpless,) but having been burned when 3d party took votes from my favored party, I am afraid of the risk. A third party needs infrastructure, campaign experts, marketers, policy experts, academics, and people who can govern so voters are reassured. It needs a track record, standing. I think Yang is on to something that a big Democratic Presidential primary would be interesting, but scary. The stakes are so high.

Andrew Yang does say some smart things - even if the 3rd party idea may not work in such a divided US - even though the reality is up to a third of the population may well be moderate, closer to the centre than to the fringes. His suggestion that Biden should complete his 4 year term having achieved the main goal, and be a bridge to the next generation, and be thanked and respected for doing so, is a very fine idea.

It seems like Bill is struggling to understand when he has lot to deliver. He's one of the few who thinks of the problems thoroughly and bring out possible solutions, they may or may not work, but at least does not let the problems slip under the rug. Bill should invite him to Club Random to devote an hour picking up is brain.

I get that ppl get scared when thinking about a NEW, UNKNOWN, third option. I do too. But Yang is one of the few politicians that seem actually knowledgeable, thinking critically, and trying to actually solve problems instead of just navigating the politics game. Just saying

He would be a good President if we could get him back, we also need to put people in Senate and the House that are in his way of thinking or will be voting against him later.. Anyway we could also create petitions in some states to get UBI on Ballots or a Dividends of the GDP with a % rate attached.

The two party system seriously needs to go. It's so dumb when both sides are just two evils. Forced to choose one that isn't shittier for ourselves while they line-up cash in their pockets. Or don't choose and try to stay away, and still get crap indirectly.
