The UBI should be taxed from large corporations. Basically give back to the people what they should be paying them anyway instead of a degrading salary

Cheers for watching the video and commenting, Zak. So would it be fair to say that you would support the introduction of an Andrew Yang-style UBI system only if it was paid for by increasing taxes on the UK's largest corporations?

It's a very common cognitive flaw (for want of a less clumsy term) to assume that other people would not use the money as wisely as you. Couldn't find it with a google but I'm sure it's been studied and evidence shows that this baseless assumption as also inaccurate. Most commonly this misconception comes from the right as they tend to be less considered & more reactionary in their reactions.

I've noticed this. It's almost like they have a kind of Dunning-Kruger Effect going on, where they assess their fiscal responsibility as significantly greater than average when in fact they are on approximately the same level as the majority of people. I think it's just a learned thought process to reinforce social shaming of the poor, assuming that if they were better with money they wouldn't be poor, which we know is a fallacy.

We should have more faith and confidence in our nation. We are not the fifth largest economy in the world for no reason. British people want to work and better themselves. That financial help won't change anyone's character. I'm for it!

Thanks for the comment, Nilou! So, if the government were to provide you with an extra £822 each month, what do you think you would do with it?

@@SamSholli I would use it to raise the standard of my life as well as others. I would run a campaign for free meal for every single British child whatever the background. I would campaign for more accessible metal health services. That money would go towards better cause that I care about.

@@nnour2617 That sounds like it would be a very noble way to use the money!

disability benefits in yangs UBI plan would be separate from Disability benefits. Disability benefits in the UK are designed to help you with the extra costs you incur living with a disability. What a yang style UBI if implemented in the uk would do is replace things like Universal credit, state pensions working tax credits and housing benefits. It would replace the existing e.s.a payments but not PIP. Though for ease and simplicity you would be better matching the UBI to the current tax free allowance of 12,500 a year and paying it weekly. With uk citizens then paying tax on all earnings. It would be very simple to administer that way.

UBI not a bad idea but it would massively accelerate immigration. UK would become free game for economic migrants...more than current levels which is bad enough.

Surely, we can put tighter roles and regulations in place for that aspect. Nonetheless as a nation we should poverty in every way we can.

@@jnkisql yes it would require radical comprehensive change to immigration laws. Currently there's too many loopholes in the immigration system i.e sham marriages etc make it easy to become a UK citizen

@@nnour2617 I agree, it should be a simple matter of having to be a full documented UK citizen, although I think it would encourage legal immigrants to perhaps bring over family members with the intention of using the money for their living costs.
