Andrew Young discusses how he came to be the executive director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and a close confidant to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. He credits his wife Jean and Martin’s wife Coretta as courageous women who were the reason for both of their success. Young recalls Malcolm X expressing his admiration for Dr. King after his Nobel Prize lecture.
Andrew Jackson Young Jr. was born March 13, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Young is an American politician, diplomat, and activist. Young became active in politics, serving first as a U.S. Congressman from Georgia, then United States Ambassador to the United Nations, and finally Mayor of Atlanta. Since leaving political office, Young has founded or served in a large number of organizations working on issues of public policy and political lobbying.
From the HBO / Kunhardt Film Foundation (KFF) Documentary “King in the Wilderness” that follows Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the last years of his life: from the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 to his assassination in 1968, through personal stories of the people who were around him.

Mr. Young, I met you for the first time today and I just want to thank you for your time. It's so important for the younger generation to understand the struggles you guys went through for our freedom that we have today. Even for my generation. We all owe so much to Dr. King and these courageous men for their bravery and dedication to the eradication of prejudice, bigotry and injustice. Mr. Young this was a very long interview and for a man your age to sit patiently for almost 3 hours to tell us a story from your past is certainly an admirable thing. You are appreciated and respected. Thank you for sharing your story and for shedding a light on the extraordinary life of Dr. King.

King and Mr. Young epitomizes moral positions compared to unmoral solutions....Such Powerful positions to demonstrate LOVE wins over HATE. Frustrating as it most had been King embracing moral ignorance should be learned by this generation and future generations. Rivalry can create division or opportunities to create WIN-WIN solutions and a more dialectical approach that creates LOVE, PEACE and UNITY!!!🙏🙏🙏🖤😎

The elephant in the room: “Black Perspective”! I never got the opportunity to meet you, it would have been awesome I am sure! I am up in age now, and have tried to understand an activist motive? What I do get that they share is “don’t fear”! So we go, we vote, we press on, and when we do and someone dies, as did Dr. King we fear! It’s not because we did not trust the movement cause we go daily believing Dr. King understood safety, no we do not know or believe putting our lives on the line will bring King back, or help us out? I appreciate you, Mr. Young, and may God bless black people. For effort! ✌🏽 and Respect#night owl

I think, Andrew Young is more of a follower. He served Dr Kiing in the best way that he knew how. He & Jessie Jackson played the same role. They were younger than Dr. King and as such they played their role as required. Could we ssy that the people who claimed to be his disciples disappointed him? After his death, these disciples could not hold it together as all hopes were dissipated and each started fighting for their own. I wish him the best for the rest of his life. Not like Dr. King. Comparing Andrew Young to Harry Belafonte, the later did a lot to elevate the black race. Mr. Belafonte will be really missed. An awesome human being.

One has to realize that no one wakes up to take on the road they did not plan to be. The thoughts did not grow in them as they grow in life, by doing hobbies they start to like. Then comes others seeking for opportunities to find a human gold mine to help them get rich in life. That's when the hobby takes over one life. They no longer have their own thoughts, someone else does all of that for them. It can get intense as one excels in their career. Decades can go pass without them having the self growth of understanding things in life. Decades of lost thinking for oneself, making mistakes trying to have a normal life. Where everything one try to do just will not come out right because too much scheming is being pushed on one life. Where the drugs, and the excitement becomes the only thing pushed on one life. That all kinds of behaviors come out of that type of life. One reason is that it's hard for one to say what they really want to do with their life. When one is under a controlled life, who don't know how to free themselves from it, or keep it separated from what is so important to them. So, things can stay like it will be when one returns back to the life they want it to be. One can be drowned in an artificial life, and lose interest in the reality of life. That the system will help the promoters to push the artificial life on the people as being right. Is why we see the destructive things taking place today.

Motives of the heart: Leading from - Psalm 139 New International Version Psalm 139 For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. 1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. 5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. 7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand- when I awake, I am still with you. 19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked! Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty! 20 They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name. 21 Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord, and abhor those who are in rebellion against you? 22 I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies. 23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

What they failed to realize is that killers don’t care about your non violence activism. Secondly these events and statutory laws were codified and upheld by this government. Thirdly it was not the fear of non violence that led to change in law but in fact the fear and threat of the secondary plan to meet violence w violence.
