It seems that whenever a 'traditional' dish pops up, there is no one definitive recipe for it. Cornish Pasty is another one of these dishes that I can recall, and there are others that I've encountered but have just the vaguest memory that they exist. I guess that these dishes are, or were, very common fare, to the point that every family cooked them but had their own little tweaks to a basic recipe. Whatever went into them or how they were cooked, they were tasty and filling... and have survived the test of time to bring fond memories to mind whenever they are spoken of.

The first reference in Europe to "Lager" comes from Chechia (formerly Czech Republic, formerly Czechoslovakia; Lol). But that's the region. The German / Czech purity law for beer is one of the oldest laws in Europe.

It's Czechia. A Chechia is a beret type hat worn by some North African Arabs.
