Thanks for sharing those PING Putters Andrew that was fascinating. I gamed a B60 for years (but eventually passed it on to one of my sons when I developed the Yips and couldn't take it back straight). It's still in my son's bag and he uses it regularly to take money from his old man.

I, too, collect old putters. I have a Wilson 8802, Fat Lady Swings, Zebra, Tear Drop, Bullseye, several other Wilson models, and a few more. My rule is I will not pay more than $25 for one and they have to have some historical importance. I will take any of them out when I play and see how it goes...if I am holing putts the putter stays in the bag. If I start missing putts, it is on to a different one. Merry Christmas Andrew!!
@andrewainsworth4975 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, sounds like you have an interesting collection. I remember the fat lady, think Nick Price used on to good effect. Best regards Andrew

Enjoyed that video Andrew ! My first putter a Ping Anser 2 i ever bought i was in 1992 at Hermans Sporting Goods here in the US. (Nearby NJ) for $100 when i first looked into playing golf. Had no other clubs yet ! Still have it ! Has a plumbers neck which i no longer like... about 10 years ago i bought a Ping 1-A off of eBay, his first style... makes that LOUD PING noise !! Condition is below avg, but wanted a piece of Ping history without breaking the bank. Think i paid about $75 for it. Great video. Looking forward to your next segment next week !

I still have my Ping Anser 3 from junior days and I have kept my late father´s Cushin, the latter with the original grip. Only using them on the living room floor - the putters of today are much easier, as you said yourself. A lot of wonderful memories of daddy when I hold his trusted putter [sigh].

Lovely collection. I am new to golf (playing) but used to love watching it when I was younger. Anyway I just bought a set of Ping eye 2+ irons and woods and a Ping pal G2. I love ‘em, BUT am so disappointed in the putter. It’s a Ping and it doesn’t PING 😢. Could you tell me which putters make the ping noise so I can look see if I can find one.

Great collection! I still have a few of my old Ping Eye 2 woods - shiny black head - big red center! I also have an old Ping Anser but I can't find the same one anywhere! It has a Phoenix 85029 zip code, and the patent number is 4,527,799. is stamped into the cavity above Karsten Mfg. Corp. Made in USA and Phoenix 85029 is on the third line - same line. Not sure what I have? Any thoughts?

Im a lefty that just started playing, I was fortunate that my boss's dad was a lefty and I was given a small mess of clubs. Most are just straight up crappy and off-brand, but tucked in was a Ping Pal... Jesus I love this putter! I'm going out to get a newer set of clubs, but really feel no need to even look at the putters because of how good this is, even being 40+ years old

I think you’re wrong regarding Tom Watson’s major wins with Ping Putters. No question he won the 1975 British Open with the A-Blade as well as the 1977 Masters. However, he won the 1977 British Open with a Wilson 8802. All other major wins after the 1977 British Open were with the Pal. Also, I think the Ping Pal sets up perfectly for a golfer with a more upright putting stroke who holds the putter a little further away from the body.

Today's putter gurus sure have a deby to Ping Andrew. So many of today's putters seem to be direct descendents of these old timers. Solheim certainly opened a door for the Scott Cameron's of the world. On a lighter note, would my 2003 Zing g2i qualify for vintage status?
@andrewainsworth4975 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken, agree with that. The Anser is the most copied putter in the world. Think the Zing needs a few more birthdays before it gets to vintage status!! Regards Andrew
