don't sleep on the 1997 berserk anime. it's kinda rough around the edges but if you like dark, deeply introspective thought provoking melancholy animes 1997s berserk is top tier. it's so much more than big man with big sword.

RageDrakax well its old, and its great, the story is also a unique one here, will take you atleast a couple of times watching the whole series to understand it, the anime has a certain vibe to it, the animation is also pretty unique for its time, certainly a underappreciated series.

I have yet to meet someone in person who loves anime shows like Ergo Proxy. At best, all I've met were anime fans that like Naruto, Bleach, Attack on Titans, Kuroko no Basket, Fairy Tail -- all the mainstream anime shows.

I recomment not watching anything on Netflix. Netflix will change the language (translation) so it fits the USoA narrative (racism, feminism, LGBTWhatever, etc.). Netflix also changes some animation for that purpose.

They don't make anime like this anymore. Mature and adult (not primarily in sexual way) themes instead of the tired and rehashed isekai formula shows these days. This one is particularly special with its more realistic, not moe, non-exaggerated art style.

Just finished this anime today 9/10/2023 at 2:40AM. This show definitely left me with a lot of questions. And it was set up for a second season, but seeing as Ergo Proxy ended in 2006... No big chance of that happenind. Sigh. Well, I liked this show. It has a nostalgic quality to it, even though I've only seen it this year. Both the into and ending songs are just pure bangers. I like Re-L's design the most, though. I like her character too - and Pino was so cute

True i didn't see this anime until 2021 and years, at this point decades of watching anime this stood out above so many and I never heard of it. I only came across from finding the opening song on Spotify while looking up "Japanese Radiohead" then finding this anime while looking up the band.

@@abrahamalviarez5870 the problem was I never "missed it" It was that I never even heard of it until I accidentally stumbled upon it and I have yet to meet anyone in person who even knows about this show. Since it has no manga all my friends who mostly read the books have never even heard of this. Yet from what I've seen online it gets alot of love from its fans and the love is always loud like "its a masterpiece" or "10/10". Which could be seen as overvalued praise to some. So until I run into atleast 5 people in person who actually heard of Ergo Proxy I will continue to consider this to be underrated every year until it has another brief trend of popularity within the masses, if it ever does that is.

This is very 2004. Emo was emerging as the aesthetic of disaffected white youth, but it was very much haunted by Cobain's ghost. Pop Punk's wink and knowing smile wouldn't emerge until 2007ish so it separates itself from grunge and modern emo in how self-serious it was.

Yep. This show could've so so much better if they didn't rush the last parts of the plot. Hopefully it gets remade some day.
