I liked your comment.. but we should be sensitive, there may be some - what we call half integer spin fermions (*fermions*) - that identify as integer spin bosons. Those *fermions* should be allowed into the boson club, that is, if there are N *fermions* (N>>1) in a system, they should all be allowed to occupy the same energy eigenstate, where all have the same four quantum numbers. And if that’s not the case, then I’m just done with physics.. remove it from our universities.

@RM-xs3ci2 жыл бұрын
Where I study...yes. I study computer science, and they teach bare min, which is surprising for a private university. For a SQL class, the professor showed us that we can rapid fire answers on a test until it is correct. But he does not "encourage" doing so. I honestly learn more on KZbin in an hour than I do in an entire semester for a class. It is like this at a lot of places too. I transferred between three schools to find one that actually teaches well, and gave up and stuck where I am now. When I was at a public school, I didn't finish an assignment, and the professor actually marked at as 100% if I was willing to submit anything, even if it was blank. Schools likely only care about keeping their graduation rates up for funding.

There can definitely be plenty of coding done in theoretical research. It depends on what exactly you end up researching, but knowing how do to stuff with e.g. Python, Mathematica, C++ will probably be pretty useful. That doesn’t mean that all CS courses will be useful, since physicists don’t typically care about the more theoretical aspects of the subject, but it’s definitely worth learning the basics.
@kazekagekid2 жыл бұрын
Go for it! Coding is nearly ubiquitous in physics past university physics ii, and also shows up in math around or after linear algebra, so it’ll be useful to get into the groove even if it’s just starting off with something easy like python.

@AndrewDotsonvideos2 жыл бұрын
In undergrad, it kinda doesn’t matter where you go. Virginia just has great schools all around. If you think you’re gonna lean towards nuclear/particle/accelerator physics (don’t worry if you haven’t thought too much about it yet, it’s very early:)), then I’d start recommending specific Virginia schools that have connections with Jefferson lab (ODU, William and Mary, I think George Mason but I can’t remember). Florida state also has a big foot in the door at jlab if I remember correctly but fact check me on that one.UVA is also a big name, but I have a friend who went there for gradschool and had to leave because they couldn’t fund him anymore so I have no idea what’s up with their grad program rn. I don’t really see many folks from Virginia tech in my field, I usually associate that with more of a great path for engineering. That being said, of course I’m biased towards ODU. I got internships both in nuclear and accelerator physics at jlab because I was at ODU.
