This is pure magic, I kid you not. This has completely changed my short game in ways I never imagined - I no longer fear or dread chipping from anywhere around the green and I know for a fact I have dropped 3 or 4 strokes a round on average using this method. Andrew, another great video! Since using a putting system similar to this ( 1 “ backswing per 1 step to the hole, 5 steps equals 5” backswing) I’ve been consistently leaving lag putts within 2 feet even from 40 feet away. As a senior I just switched to Wilson Launch Pad Hybrid irons and use them for green side chipping. By using only my PW or 8 iron, I had to vary the swing pressure to regulate distances. (Not always accurate) Your 6=6 run out, 7=5, 8=4, etc on down is EXACTLY what I was looking for! One swing, 5 distances. 1 week to the club championship, hopefully I can dial it in by then! THANKS AGAIN!

This is a fantastic chipping video. I started practicing and using this technique a few months ago and the results have been great. Most amateurs like me probably only hit 5 or 6 greens in regulation during a typical round of golf. So, there are lots of opportunities to use this technique during every round you play. Two great things about this technique that I have noticed. 1) Much more consistent results - I never hit the ball fat or skull chip shots over the green 2) Usually the ball winds up much closer to the hole and then you have a shorter putt to make par or bogey. One other factor that needs to be mentioned - in addition to the distance to the hole you need to factor in whether you are chipping to a green that is flat, or are you chipping to green that is on an upslope or a downslope.

Great teaching tips. Easy to understand. Sometimes I think a lobotomy is my only path to better chipping, but, I’ll try this first. THE hardest chips for me by far are when I’m close to the pin and only need to swing the club back to say 7 o’clock and swing thru the same. I spasm more times than I care to admit to

I chip only with my left arm and hand. I started doing it as a drill and I got really good at it. It seems so easy to me and I have a really great feel for the shot because only one hand is involved. I never decelerate the club. So now I do it all the time around the green. I use my 60, 56, and 50-degree wedges depending on distance and how high I want the ball to go. I can sweep the ball off the tightest of lies, no problem. I never dig or skull the shot. I drive everybody crazy when I am playing with them as I get up and down time after time.

Great stuff and nice and simple. I've been chipping (& pitching up to 30 yards) lead hand low for several weeks and the results have been great. It helps keep the shoulders level and the low point in front (of the ball), low and long. Weight left, level shoulders and a touch of shaft lean that leaves some bounce. Straight back = crisper contact. It takes some getting used to (used to putt that way which helps). Up & down numbers are way up. Curiously seem to get more loft on the shot. The toe down set up works well in deeper grass too.

This is great. I really like the rule of 12 chipping, but i intuitively converted it to 2-part-1 as you described it (2:1) and now have it in a google sheet along with all my club yardages and for different stimp greens. Conversely, I can hit an 8 and a wedge on a new course practice green and translate that back to a stimp number for putting (if my wedge roles out 1:1 then I know it’s a 9, for instance…if it’s 2:1 then it’s a 10 and so on).

Yes, this is how I chip -- different grip closer to the steel -- not quite putting grip, but close. I actually put my right foot slightly behind and on my toe (forces consistent weight to the left), feeling the weight to the outside of the left foot. Also slight hinge and hold to take the wrist out of it. Now the most consistent chipping, and more up & downs then ever. Thank You!!!

@@AndrewEmeryGolf I’ve discovered the secret to lower scores is to spend 70% of your practice time on the short game…and of that 70%, spent 70% on putting. I only practice putting with one ball only, lagging to the hole, then holing out, practice like you play! If using more than one ball, I’m practicing from 5’ and in, setting up my putts from different slopes and sides of the hole. ⛳️

I can watch 5 chipping videos and each one shows a different technique. Not every technique will work for everyone as we all have different bodies and different personal traits. That said, I'm going to give this a shot during my next practice session. I'm an old dog that's happy to learn any new trick that's helpful.

Very salient point Steve! I’m not a Method Coach. There are just too many variables. I like to meet my students where they are! That’s obviously not possible with YT vids but I do know from experience that putting with loft - while uncomfortable at first, is EASY! There are a lot of ways you can chip - find something that works for you!! Thanks for watching! Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻

@@AndrewEmeryGolf The important thing is creating repeatable processes that work and your 'technique' and methodology does just that. I have watched enough to know who is effective and having just found you I am grateful that you are teaching with this level of clarity

What grip integrity do you recommend for chipping, pitching, and putting?
@AndrewEmeryGolf Жыл бұрын
Around a 5/10 for the short shots is ideal. The challenge is maintaining a constant grip pressure - While at the same time - your wrist, elbow and shoulder joints have low tension and a full range of motion! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻

This is a brillaint instructional video. I always chip with a 7 iron and most of my mates (who use LW or PW) reckon I'm a good chipper. I'm all for 'low tarrif' shots with fewer degrees of freedom. This equates to more consistency and your tips in this video are simply great.

Trying to get back into golf at age 63, played today and man I'm struggling with my chipping Coach A. Most often find myself stubbing it. Where should the butt of the club be finishing on the chip? Ahead of the ball, or at body centerline?
@AndrewEmeryGolf4 ай бұрын
Ahead of the ball 100%!!! The club needs to sit vertically - work on hitting the side of the golf ball just like a putt! No need to hit down!!! Let the set up take care of the AOA. It’s likely that you’re dropping the grip too much so keep the club UP at the point of collision!! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Hi Andrew, for these chips with the toe down, are you still striking the ball fairly close to the centre of the club face?
@AndrewEmeryGolf10 ай бұрын
With the heel elevated you’re striking towards the toe. This deadens the strike and helps create a more unobstructed (grass) - approach to the ball! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Some great insights, will be trying to incorporate this into my chipping, especially the left hand low drill. How tight is your grip - I was taught to have the lightest possible grip, but you feel like you don't have total control . PS, I thought volume was a little low

Andrew is the edge of the club flat to the ground or the toe slightly raised? Tried this today with all the three clubs you mentioned and the concept is better than what I usually do.

The heel is raised Philip. (Toe down). Get the club vertical! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 Coach A.
