most golfers when trying to create width in the back swing end up raising up just like you did at the beginning of the video . width is created by a straight left arm .

This is an excellent video. I have found that when I exaggerate the flexion of the left wrist (closing the club face) on the takeaway/backswing, I tend to extend my lead wrist (opening the club face) on the downswing. Going from slightly extended or flat lead wrist to flexed lead wrist on the downswing feels more natural.

Hi Andrew, - THIS short video finally nailed it for me ! I've been watching your video for a couple of months, at age 59 - and not playing enough - I have been doing ALL the classic errors you adress in general. My focus have this year been the right albow and pivoting, and gaining constant impact. I have achived better impact but lost 10-15 % distance in the process. This video gave me both the distance back, as well as better compression 🙏

Nice demo of how even a pro benefits from feedback. Had my eye on HM for a while and working on a couple buddies to split $ of one...sharing this video. 🙂 Went through phase of trying to have wrist more flat at the top but often combined with old release so major blocks and hooks...worse yet if grip got strong. Currently managing by hitting intentional fade off the tee...which feels like trying to hit a big slice. Generally more fw's but hard to commit to aiming left and an occasional spectacular long double cross. 😂 🙏Thankful for your golf ministry.

I started with a simple swing with the body following the arms at age 50 . Got down to a handicap of five in four years. Then, now a legend in my own mind I thought I would improve and added just about every move I’d seen on KZbin and my handicap blew out to 12 . Have realised how stupid I have been and inspired by your posts am now swinging the club so simply, almost gently and elegantly, feeling the club head move through the ball. - Not AT the ball. Thank you so much Andrew. Overnight you have rescued me.

You can get ample info. from Core in my opinion! The plus and pro just give you a lot more KPI’s which is helpful but not necessary for most golfers. Seeing your flexion/extension patterns as I demonstrated in the video is going to be extremely beneficial for the majority of golfers!! The Core model also offers biofeedback! Your arms are transported by your shoulders but the ‘feel’ is in your hands!! The hands of course should remain quiet but they still play an important role in putting because they provide the feedback through the putter head!! Hope that makes sense! Coach A. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🙏🏻

This comment is about a relatively minor point because I like your videos a lot, and find them very useful. However, in this video, you discuss the use of the right hand particularly in the downswing. You argue that if the right hand is under the club before impact, then you can't close the club face properly without scooping. But you say nothing about the left hand. It seems to me the club face could be closed by a simple rotation of the left hand. Aren't both hands required to close the club face properly at impact in order to get good ball compression?
@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 3 күн бұрын
Absolutely you can use the lead hand!! It’s just a different perspective is all for those that are right hand dominant! Sometimes it’s easier to use your dominant hand to control your wrist angles! You have to find what works best for you! Ironically, I’m releasing a video in the morning that talks about this very subject! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🙏🏻

Andrew, I loved this video and your overall golf swing techniques. My friend and I visited you for a 2 day in person lesson in April 24 and we were pinning & spinning, getting out in front of the ball with BFI, and releasing early. At 61, since leaving your class I have never, ever hit the golf ball better, farther, or more accurately. My handicap has dropped from a 9.5 to a 7 on a TPC tour course!! This is the most simple and repeatable swing being taught. Thank you, thank you Andrew!!

I estimated the speed of the arms free falling using gravity would not be more than 20 miles per hour. So I googled it and found: If a golfer simply allows gravity to drop their arms, the driver head speed would be significantly slower than a normal swing, likely only reaching speeds around 20-30 miles per hour; this is because the primary force generating speed in a golf swing comes from the golfer's muscle power, not just gravity pulling the arms down, which would only contribute a small amount of acceleration to the clubhead.
@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 4 күн бұрын
Spot on! Linear speed requires linear force which moves the grip considerably faster than gravity into the delivery position, before the grip of course slows down transferring energy to the club-head through angular momentum. You only need to look at the long drive guys to see how much vertical energy they ‘work’ through the grip in transition! It should be noted that gravity is however extremely helpful around the greens when we require slow ball speed to control distance! Placing that same linear force aggressively against the grip from inside 40 yards is going to work against you! Thanks for the salient comment! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Excellent explanation; Noticed your foot line stick is pointed left, I am fighting flips, trying to hit a higher cut. How would that change things? 72 yrs young, 9 hc. Thx!
@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 4 күн бұрын
Foot line is straight! Alignment string is slightly right to encourage an inside approach to the ball. It appears of course that relative to the string my feet are open. Hope that makes sense! A higher cut is going to require a steeper golf swing releasing the lead wrist more into extension (glove logo up) through impact as opposed to supination or rotation (glove logo down!). Place the ball a little further forward and align a little left to shift your swing direction left! You’ll need that for the pull fade! Get after it! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Nice video, but I kept getting distracted by the beautiful wide arc backswing of one of the women in the background. Sort of underpinned your message too before you even made the comment yourself at the end, if only I was that young and flexible again myself, LOL. And thanks for adding a feel tip. It took me a number of channels to find something that resonated with me too, as feels are so damn subjective. Personally I use the right shoulder feel to start the takeaway. Downswing for me is just the feel like dropping my arms (thanks to Ernie Els)

@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 7 күн бұрын
This students transformation started with a new concept!! I had to plant the seed first and wipe clean some of his old misconceptions. The keys were keeping his back to the target and allowing his arms to de-elevate as opposed to ‘Pinning & Spinning’ which left his arms at the start line causing an early release!! He made amazing progress increasing speed effortlessly! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Hi Andrew, I have practiced the L to L Drill (Hitchhiker Drill) with a narrow stance like in your videos, the contact and distance are better than when I do the full swing with a wider normal stance? Do you have any thoughts or ideas as to why this is? TIA....
@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 7 күн бұрын
More variables when you widen. Keep your head quiet, most golfers tend to drift once they widen. Start with the ball a little further back than normal and a ‘little bit’ wider, rather than jumping immediately to a wider stance. Also, speed down a bit (75%). You have to work up gradually in preparation for the final examination (Full Swing/Full Speed!) 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

you teach a rotational forearm release .... any chance you can show us the throwing release ?? .... looks like an underhand throw. It doesn't require perfect timing like the L to L release.
@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 9 күн бұрын
You might be confusing the L to L with an open to close release pattern where the club is excessively open on its approach and requires a fast ROC (Rate of Closure) at the ball. I do not teach this at all. The L to L keeps the face remarkably square to path and the lead wrist naturally extends as it re-hinges!! There is no roll at the ball. Just a very gradual rotation in conjunction with the pivoting motion of the body. The throw release you mention absolutely requires a more closed club face and/or a much stronger grip! If you have a higher swing speed and tend to miss left then it’s an ideal release pattern (Dustin Johnson would be a prime example!). Hitting pull fades is the primary release pattern for the majority of my elite students! However, there’s no question that doing this with a neutral grip or for a slicer will have adverse effects on the ball flight! (Weak/right!). It’s best to give it a try to see what’s the best fit for you! Get after it! A. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
