I watched this and your other video on macro photography and you are brilliant, easy to understand and incredibly informative. I shall be working my way through your other videos. You gained a sub. Thanks for doing the videos.

To help with your focus, use a smaller dish. I turn a teacup upside down and fill the recess with liquid. If you’re careful, you can get a fairly consistent bubble size and your focus stays good throughout a shoot.

Where did you position your flash? I didn't see it in the video and didn't see it fire off. Great video, thank you!

I was so inspired by this video I went straight to Amazon to buy a set of extension tubes to be able to focus close enough to do this. Best £33 I have ever spent! A little ingenuity on the dining room table, including making my own soft light and voila some amazing photos. Thankyou!

Thank you for first of all making this with little equipment as possible, other videos use more than just 3 things(light, camera, tripod) but I like how you had the set up. I have been trying this already for 2 days and getting better results than when I first started. I would have liked to know your settings though during your shots and was glad to get some while editing the pictures. Thank you for posting your video.

Thanks Ester! You can see some settings in the edit process but you're right, it'd be better to make it clearer when I take the shot. I'll keep that in mind!

Hi Andrew, I tried this a few years ago, and found that Glycerine in the bubble mixture works quite well too, but I'm going to try your idea too.
@AndrewLanxonPhotography2 жыл бұрын
Glycerine works great and in my most recent version of this (a video I posted a few weeks ago) I relied more heavily on glycerine, although I did still use a touch of cooking oil as I found it adds to the swirl effect. Good luck!

Hello love your videos can I ask what speed light and soft box are you using
@ChristianL934 жыл бұрын
I really want to try this but I will not go out and invest in light equipment like you have. Can i do it in front of a window on a sonny say perhaps, and that way use natural light as the light source?

I found the perfect mixture and it doesnt look horrible like that one lol.. double if you want more. 50 mls of glycerin 6 tea spoons of dish soap 2 tea spoons of corn syrup.

Nice! Mine not only looks horrible but tastes horrible too...

Interesting effect. I like your comments on LR processing; most videos on this type of macro skip over this part.

I shot this over the past couple days. It was very easy; I used a medium sized soft box. Last night, my granddaughter shot some for her phone. It’s a lot of fun and fascinating to see how the colors and swirls develop and change. My mixture was a pint of water, 2 tablespoons of Dawn dishwashing liquid and 2 tablespoons of glycerin. The bubbles “lived” 3 to 4 minutes.

How do you get the colors in your bubbles, mine are all clear?

So how do you prevent the bubbles from reflecting you, your lights, the room, etc?
