As someone whose used a 230gr .45 ACP, I really like the idea of a suppressed 300blk with 220gr round, quieter and in a package that’s arguably better fitted for home defense. 😊 Sub’d

For real, 300BLK subs are basically shooting a 45acp+P without the capacity hit that comes with shooting big ol' .45s. There's a reason that 300BLK is my favorite rifle cartridge. XD

Did you make this video? Subs over-penetrating indoors is my main concern (I live in an apartment). Not sure if most people understand physics/terminal ballistics. But think of it like this: imagine a large, heavy egg dropped from only a couple feet up and landing in a lake-it’s going to land and sink and keep on going. Now imagine a small egg dropped from a tall bridge over a lake traveling very fast-it’s going to explode. In short: it’s all about energy delivered *on target.* Not just how fast the round is traveling. And at subsonic speed, not nearly as much energy is delivered via expansion/fragmentation/etc.

Hey i swear berrys 220g plated 300 blk bullets legitimately have more expansion than than this, at least compared to the bullet in the thumbnail. Especially of you file off the copper on the tip, not enough to change weight like 2 grains maybe. Like .75" perfect flower kind of expansion that looks more like a pistol caliber hp fully expanded. Iv tried alot of .308 bullets but the plated rounds seem to have a much easier time expanding at the lower velocity. The jacketed bullets even sp and hp tend to do exactly what the pic shows with only the tip expanded or (more likely) no expansion at all, the the round just kinda gets bent in a twist. If this is the best a round designed for sub use can do id definitely just go with the plated bullets. The sole downside is that you cant load them past 1300 fps but thats irrelevant for sub use. I kinda wish they were more boat tail though.

I like 300BLK a lot, but I don't use it for home defense because even after doing a boatload of tuning including ultra-light buffer, tuned spring, lightweight BCG, and a suppressor that adds gas, my AR rig (Bravo Company upper) is still only marginal with 300BLK subsonic for reliability. Super fun to shoot, but not quite there for life or death stuff.

I accidentally swapped weights in a buffer and forgot about it so my 8.2" 300 blackout has had an h3 buffer in it and it has no issue with running subs without a suppressor.

Even suppressed I need ear protection with the 5.5” barrel on the PDX. The M855 has 530 ft lbs at the muzzle so the 190 or 220 in 300 would be similar. Great video! 👍🏻🍻

subsonic even unsupressed is still not super loud, I wouldn’t wanna be indoors all day dumping hundreds of rounds without ears on but for a handful of rounds in a defensive situation you’re probably walking away with some ringing but unlikely to create lasting damage, compare that to a short barreled unsupressed 5.56 indoors and you’re probably looking at some degree of hearing damage

In the other KZbin video tests with this bullet, I got the feeling this bullet would be excellent loaded into 30-30 ammo and with the blunt soft plastic point the loads can be safe to use in tubular magazines. The current top weight commercial loaded 30-30 ammo is a 170 grain so the 190 grains would be great when the 30-30 is not used for long range hunting. I also would like to see what this 190 grain bullet does from a 308 win

I chose a 8 inch 300 blackout. I shoot ss bullets for many reasons. One being everyone can hear it. I want people to know I'm in a gun fight so they will call the police. Secondly the concussion when fired on the other end of the rifle is debilitating to the bad guy. Also the damage the bullet does is better. I don't want a silencer because of all the gas in my face making it hard for me to see. Nothing like a gun fight going on and tearing up badly.
