I have just purchased a RIPMAX trainer with .42 Thunder Tiger Engine. I purchased this Transmitter and Receiver for £40. After watching your videos I set up the radio gear and fine-tuned the plane. I then took it for a flight, having never flown before. I enjoyed every minute and even managed to land it without damage. Thanks for your videos. They really helped.

Howdy, Andrew. Greetings from Texas. Job well done, sir. As a beginner, I went with your beginner recommend radio, the updated version FS-is6X, very affordable, after delivery I almost sent it back as I watched some of your subsequent videos on the Taranis Q7, but I am going to stick with my beginner guns here. Not a cost thing, just a "do I need to order all bell and whistles" thing as I revisit an old hobby from decades ago. I am presently flying the beginner 3 CH RTF "Sky Cruiser" pusher prop plane you reviewed earlier, I am happy to report that this plane ( in a cushy grass field) has survived multiple hard landings and a bona fide crash or two without a hiccup. Very good flyer/glider in calmer winds. Excellent range with the included radio. Impressive. I am awaiting delivery of the Dynam Hawksky V2 as the second plane and first with ailerons and paired to my FS-i6X / FS-iA6B combo. I am also building a Flite Test "Simple Cub" as I just love that design and historical scale appearance. I live close to several lakes, so I am thinking a "float plane" version here. Thank you, Andrew !

Last time I flew it was u-line and crystal controlled gear. Yes.... I'm that old. LOL I started flying quads last year finally bought a FS-i6 and recently bought an Eachine E010S (no controller) because they said it would fly with the Flysky but I had no idea how to set it up. Just wanted to add that I went through your video carefully last night and was able to successfully program the throttle safety switch, the the dual rate switch and the accompanying expos, what looked a little intimidating at first is turning into an interesting journey. Thank you, Andrew. I didn't buy the Taranis QX7 because of the programming involved at start up, I kinda wish I had I had gone for it now. But this Flysky FS-is6X is better than I am right now and I won't be afraid to upgrade when I have a good reason to do so down the road. Cheers and many happy days to you, sir.

I had a lot of fun using that radio as a controller, via SmartPropPlus (SPP) with the free flight sim PicaSim. A DIN plug is wired to a 3.5mm audio jack (pin 1 of the DIn to the tip of the jack, and sleeve to sleeve to connect ground) plugged to line-in. The Flysky works in PPM (Walkera) mode within SPP transmitter settings. Run SPP before starting Picasim. In the Joystick settings map the sticks and you've got a cheap flight simulator.

@@AndrewNewton thank you Andrew. 😊 I'm going to set up trainer and student mode today . I'm going to be setting it up on ( D ) switch. I used ( B ) switch for motor cut off safety. And ( A ) switch for normal and sport . That configuration just felt comfortable to me . My question is once it's set up does it stay set up ? And when I plug in the cable to both transmitters do I have to activate the trainer / student mode . Or does it recognize it automatically 🤔. And then when I unplug the cable does it automatically go back to normal mode ? Or do I have to turn the mode on and off every time I want to train one of the kids ? Thank you again for getting back to me . And for making the video, I had a lot of fun yesterday setting up a 3 of my planes . I have 12 planes more still in the attic . All of them with brushless motors and castle creation ESC's . I learned 2 days ago how to update the software on the ESC's . I couldn't remember how to program them with the transmitter so I bought the program card . And called the company and they helped me over the phone. They had not been update sense 2004 lol 😆. The boys are getting excited about flying . They are using the new simulator and learning all the terminology about the planes . They are so smart for 9 and 5 years old . Both A students in school. If I knew how much fun grandkids were , I would have had them first lol 😆 . I'm in Las Vegas Nevada. And not sure where you are or the time difference. It's 3:27 am as I write to you . Hello again Andrew this is Jeff b in Seattle I'm writing my review of my first flight with an Phoenix evolution plane it has 2 wings 1 is 62" the other is 102" wing..I used the 62" wings. It is the first plane I've had that is all screwed together, the thing I noticed was the rudder does not attach very well in the front.so I used some foam safe glue to keep it in place.i launched it and it took off very well I started gaining some altitude and went to make a left hand turn at about 50 feet high and during the turn about halfway through it took a nosedive I got the throttle before it hit but it still hit pretty hard. I've flown many Balsa planes so I was figuring to have quite a repair job ahead of me I walk to the 50 yards to retrieve it and I could not believe it the only damage to the plane was I cracked the nose cone nothing else nothing..... Now what had happened was I used the foam safe glue because it's foam writer but the plane is made out of plastic PVC type of material in which the glue did not adhere to as well as its I thought it would. So I'm going to score the top of the fuselage and use a different type of glue and I believe that will cure the problem but overall during the flight that I did have the time to say this it handled exceptionally well plenty of power good flight stability and extremely durable if it wasn't for me using the wrong type of glue I believe this would have never happened so overall I rate the plane very high the only problem I found in the plane was the one flaw where I used the wrong type of glue
@AndrewNewton

After watching your video the one you built with a fiberglass pole for the tail section connections I thought about it and figured out how to use the screws to fix the rudder so I'm going to cut a slot on the underside of the fuselage and screw it in that way .at first I didn't see how it would work screwing it from the top. After watching your video where you built the glider from scratch I realized that through the bottom would be the best way to do it because your answer to me was use screws and I thank you for making me come up with the answer to do it from the bottom side rather than just tell me that I appreciate the challenge. However what I'm thinking is I might use a thin piece of Balsa and then slip it between the rudder stabilizer and the fuselage glued to the stabilizer for a little extra strength....
@AndrewNewton
@AndrewNewton 6 жыл бұрын
I thought you were asking about adding a hinge to the lower section of the rudder near the control horn.
@jeffbowers4895
@jeffbowers4895 6 жыл бұрын
No I apologize for that no the front of the rotor stabilizer where it attaches to the fuselage is what I was actually referring to but after watching you Bill that plane I figured that would be the best way to secure it unless you have any other thoughts or suggestions that I might consider
@jeffbowers4895
@jeffbowers4895 6 жыл бұрын
It said router I ment front of rudder I used glue it didn't hold .that's why I thought of useing braces along the rudder fin to hold it from moving not the rudder itself .that's why I was going to add a piece of thin Balsa to the bottom of the rudder fin and drill the holes from the bottom side into it that would give me extra stability if doing acrobatics.should I use a piece of hard rubber as a washer inside to keep it from inlarging the hole from the stress???? Or would you recommend another way Jeff B Seattle thank you

Andrew I was hoping that you would recommend how I attach the front of the rudder to the fuselage in a little more detail than just using a screw if you would please I would appreciate it
@AndrewNewton
@AndrewNewton 6 жыл бұрын
I have used a little plastic hinge, with one side glued into a slot in the rudder foam and the other side screwed to the fuselage with 2 little servo screws. No need for backing, it would be impossible to get it into place anyway.

After I launch it. Thinking it's at full power. As I'm trying to gain altitude. It seems to take a role. To the left and nose dive into the ground. Because it has no power when I put Full Throttle I get full power for in the beginning 10 seconds 15 seconds, and then it's dropped down to like maybe 1/4 power. Not knowing that. Every time I try to go up it would roll and come straight down into the ground.

You are not the only one. Chinese English is maddening. "Cancel," "Confirm," it's all the same to FlySky ! Great radio with idiosyncracies. I would highly recommend downloading the 35 pg owner's manual, I learned a lot from the manual as well as Sir Andrew Newton.

I was going to set up for flapperons but, I suppose I could use the elevons or Vtail options. Depends what Ch the servos are on. The mix will do the same thing. It's pretty much the same as my old Flysky T6, bar it uses less batteries & also supports afhds 2A. Still think holding 'cancel' is a bizarre way to save the menu settings & holding 'ok' seems to reset it. Think they always got that back to front tbh. Let's hope it lasts longer than my old FS T6. The screen crapped out after about 18 months. I got it working again, broken lines but readable, not worth the hassle when this was available, especially on sale half the price. FS GT3 is great, great screen & USB rechargeable lipo. That's what these 6 Ch + need. A least a charge port for the batteries. That's what I now use the back of the old T6 for.

It's easy, there is a VTail option in the model setup menu. Plug the ailerons in to ch1 and tail servos in to ch2 and ch4. May need to reverse one or both of them depending on your servos.
