This man truly brought golf statistics out of the Dark Ages. Professionals and analysts worth their salt understand the value of Strokes Gained but the public has been slower to catch on. I'd argue that after Tiger, Mark Broadie is the most influential person in golf this century, most people just don't realise it yet.

Just got his book and absolutely facinated by his findings. Immediately went on YT to find an interview with Mark and here it is, lots of good info to unpack. Anyone taking the game of golf with any seriousness or competitve edge will need to accept the strokes gained stats to improve their game. I'm sure the best golfers in the World understood this but could not quanitfy it. Thank you Mark and Andrew for puting out quality content. Looking forward to 2022 golf season!

I am late to the party BUT, this is one of the finest KZbin content videos I've ever seen. I've been using a program called shotbyshot. I am currently a 5 handicap who always felt it was my wedge play, short game and putting that let me down. My data shows my driving game is rated as a 1 handicap. My short game is a 2. My sand game is scratch. My putting is a +3. My approach shots are rated at a 9 handicap! It further pointed out that my strokes were being lost at 150 to 175. I am solid at 150 down and actually better at 175 to 225. This has caused me to really concentrate on my ballstriking and iron play. I always thought I needed to putt better to take pressure of my approach game when the numbers showed the opposite us true. Interestingly the numbers show I lose less strokes in that 150 to 175 range, from the rough. Great stuff and I'm here to say my personal data backs this smart man up. I have the book. I will switch over to his app. We need to support him and great teachers like you. Thanks so very much. Be safe. 👍🏌️🇨🇦

This whole series is outstanding! As a club junkie, who in the last few years as become fascinated with swing mechanics, this is the best information a golfer could find for free anywhere in the world. Keep up the great work!!

Really great content, thank you. I would just note that to practice more of one type of shot it’s necessary to practice less of other shots. If it’s apparently better to practice more 0-60 yards shots from the rough than from the fairway, it may be because everyone is better from the fairway because everyone practices more from the fairway. It’s not obvious to me that the gains from practicing more from the rough will give me enough gains to offset expected losses (due to less practice) from the fairway. Another way to think about this issue is to think that there aren’t many gains from putts inside 5 feet, but that’s because people put so much effort and practice on those distances.
