This is from the 1941 movie In The Navy, starring Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. I discovered this song months ago when I was really starting to get into the Andrews Sisters, and it quickly became a favorite. You are the first I've seen react to it...Congratulations!! Please react to more Andrews Sisters, namely the songs I'm Gettin' Corns for My Country, and Straighten Up and Fly Right. Videos exist for both songs.

This was undeniably a lot of fun! You reacted to them singing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" before. There biggest period of success was the late 30's through the early 50's this particular number is from the 40's. They were HUGE during WWII.

How cool. When I was little they would play these movies on TV. Whenever this came on my little sister would sing it for days. Cute. Lol.

Hi guys. This was from the Abbott and Costello movie "In the Navy". When you did Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy that was a movie clip also. That was from Abbott and Costello's movie Buck Privates. A lot of entertainers also did USO tours and shows. The Andrew Sisters did a lot of that kind of thing too. Both of these movies were in the early 40s I believe.

Anita O'Day - Sweet Georgia Brown & Tea for Two.1958, youtube. Gotta check her out. Anita O'Day (born Anita Belle Colton; October 18, 1919 - November 23, 2006) was an American jazz singer widely admired for her sense of rhythm and dynamics, and her early big band appearances that shattered the traditional image of the "girl singer".

I love the incredible variety of music you listen to! The Andrew Sisters were so upbeat at a time when so much of the world was dark and depressing. They also did USO shows to entertain the troops, and give them a brief, happy break from the war. Thanks for sharing this, I needed a brief, happy break, too.

You gotta do "Boogey Woogie Bugle Boy from company B." Oh, that was Abbot and Costello walking into the club at the beginning. I believe they did a few movies with the Andrew Sisters.

They already reacted to it. I'm just glad to see them diving a bit deeper than the one song that just about everyone knows them for. These ladies were so talented, then backed up by the bug band and it made for a very distinct sound that nobody else had at the time

Andrew Sisters debut this performance at a jazz club prior to the film was released in theaters. It was there a friend asked they show up at his event to do there new number. Mantan Moreland actor comedian surprised the audience at his comedy show with the girls.

Happy to see you guys with a smile on your faces. This was from a 1941 movie called IN THE NAVY stars of the movie were the comedy team Abbott & Costello if you look at the beginning where there is a short chubby sailor and taller thin sailor they are the comedy team they made movies for 16 years top grossing movies for several years. The other song you showed was from another Movie of this team from same year I believe.

So the Andrew Sisters performed this song for there friend actor comic Mantan Moreland who was appearing at the club. In a 12 page interview in the 1970s in the magazine Rona Barretts Hollywood Patty Andrews spoke about performing at this special show where greats like Lena Horne and Charlie Barnett appeared as well as the Harlem Society and they never forgot the ovation they received before and after an encore.

Yes the comedy team in the beginning where Costello sees the sign saying Hawaii. Sailor says Hawaii. Then Costello says "I'm fine how are you". They are the guys that you showed "Who's on First" and also "7 into 28 goes 13 times".

I'm amazed that they were singing about "gimme some skin" 20 years ahead of the 1960's, talking about how they do it in Harlem, describing an early version of what became known as a "soul" handshake in the mid 1960's. I had no idea that had made it out to the white community so early.

The McGuire Sisters were a Truplet group who had a lot of hits in the 195Os, including Sincerely, definitely taking their cue from Andrew's Sisters. Then came the talented Lennon Sisters, who got their start on the Lawrence Welk show and became really popular. An Era gone by in the acts that could harmonize like that. The Andrew's Sisters were in a few Abbott abd Costello films including this one.

You see how much of the world has changed in 80 years. My father was from that generation so I can relate to their attitudes and outlooks on the world. What’s funny is they seem so innocent and almost naïve and yet at the same time, they’re literally destroying evil on two sides of the planet at the same time. The baby boom didn’t happen till after World War II when all the troops came home and started their lives as civilians.

@@makingthecoin3647 sure, they are talented, but as a music consumer, I can only appreciate the end product. And I don’t think music starts getting good, till about the 60’s. Marty Robbins El Paso, apparently was released in 1959, which I enjoy quite a bit, but ‘59 is close enough. I think the best example is the song American pie by Don McLean. A song released I ‘71, that many interpret as about the music of the ‘50’s, is better than the music of the ‘50’s. You got The Beatles, Stones,Zeppelin, Creedence, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Eagles Steve Miller, Queen, Aerosmith, G&R, all the 80’s glam bands like Skid Row and Cinderella, that had guys who who could belt out a tune with the best of them, and on and on. Modern Vocalist like Rihanna, and Adele, are putting out way better songs than anything they had in the olden days. Not saying people couldn’t perform, but for whatever reason, either through technology, culture, drugs or whatever, the quality of music just seems to take off, compared to everything before it, in the ‘60’s. Elvis had a Golden voice, no question about it. And I like a couple of his songs, but his music, in my opinion is no where near as entertaining, as What Queen, with Freddie Mercury put out. I don’t listen to music to admire some singer’s ability. I listen to music to be entertained, and enjoy the song. Part of that is, the singer’s ability to carry a tune, but it’s not everything. Ronnie Van Zant isn’t even in the sane league as Nat King Cole, but I’ll wear out my radio listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd, where I’ll endure Nat King Cole, if I have to around Christmas time. I don’t have any of Frank Sinatra’s songs on my play list, but I got a couple of Nancy’s songs.
