getting up early to get something done, it could be working out, drawing or anything productive. It just makes the rest of the day feel so much better since you started of the day with a victory (:

I replaced reading the morning newspaper and other scrolling on the iPad with figure and portrait sketching in Procreate. I also set up a bujo style habit tracker. Now I’m at the point where I don’t want to ruin that almost 4 week consecutive streak. 😊

Rere, Stephanie again! I have your tutorial with them. I thought you already mastered portraits. I guess, you're always hungry of new experience. Good for you. You're second professional artist I know, who urge to sketch to improve skills. Other one is Adebanji Alade, London-based artist, literally volcano of enthusiasm.

Thank you for this maestro. I started this challenge myself and I'm at my 11th portrait at the moment. I can definitely see already a great improvement in technique and confidence. Posting the results on my socials and playing with my friends to recognize the subject is an added value, as the first to recognize it will get the next portrait. You literally changed my world inspiring me to do this. Blessings from Italy from a big fan of yours.🙏

Beautiful as always Andrew❤. I just did 2 portraits this afternoon. Both using blue pencil for guide lines using the Loomis method. And then applying lead pencils over the blue lines. What a massive difference. Thank you so much for showing us how to use this method. I have 3 heads to post tomorrow in the academy. Thanks again 🎶💖

Wow, I just pushed myself to finally start sketching daily to build a habit, to help me improve especially with pencil and line drawing and this video popped up in my feed. Awesome video and drawings.

Have you ever thought about painting with graphite? Brush & dust basically. I saw a guy using this technique some years ago, & I was astounded by the variations in tone/value he was able to achieve.

They look perfect to me. I wish I new your geometric technique or construction technique no sure how it’s called better. Do you have any lesson on that for a super beginner in portraits? Thx dear.

Absolutely, I just uploaded this to my Academy Library. I show step-by-step- how to draw a head in 3/4 view following a reference, explaining how to locate the eyes, nose, mouth, chin and hairline, and getting everything lined up and creating a likeness. why dont you try a very soft paint brush instead of a paper stump for the blending and back grounds. Try it and see the difference
