What an amazing good instructional video , so well explained ! I was lucky to have a teacher who learned me to draw portraits and model from life this way , seeing your video throw me back in time , I still love this classical approach , it needs indeed a lot of practice , perseverance and concentration , we were not allowed to speak during the lessons and there always played Bach music in the background . Watching this video wished me to grab my sketchbook and tools again , I only miss good models or good photos . Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge .

In life there are no lines, Where form turns away from the eye we draw a line, but it is not a line in life. This is why photography can never supplant hand rendered images. What the left eye sees the right eye sees at a different angle. August Rodin was very short sighted, he could not see the silhouettes on both sides of his sculptures at the same time. His mastery of form created a continuity of aesthetics between two disparate silhouettes. Therefore the mastery of form between the disparity of what either eye sees, allows for greater aesthetic expression of character, than the single angle that the camera sees.

HI Lokteva! Great lesson. I just have to say this that I always had huge admiration for the Russian Method of Drawings and Paintings. No doubts its the best in the world (in my humble opinion) But lately I have been trying to mimic those approach myself. Sure it all begins from understanding of underlying structure and anatomy and following a certain pathway as everyone talks about , But i could rarely find any artist from Russian Academics on You tube actually demonstrating their ways of doing art. So I am finally glad to find your channel and I am looking forward to learn a lot from u. (Btw the closest i have been to understanding the Russian academic approach was that 2 hour live model demo of Iliya Mirochnik on New Master Academy Channel. Watched that same demo bazillion of times. LOL)
