Never have I seen a video explaining the details of rails in depth as you do. Really inspirational. Thank you and congratulations!

love these vids..i have surfed for almost 50 years and realised I don't know anything about boards..i know what I like and don't like, only by riding a board, but not specifically why I like the feel of one board and not another. I'm pretty thick, but I'm learning :). definitely going to have a crack at this. excellent work Andrew...chheers from Australia

I'd recommend not having it so bright from above but rather have a number of low light sources coming in from the sides. Definitely helps to see the curvature of things and helps highlight any areas that are a bit off.

These videos are awesome! Thanks! I am gathering everything I need to make my 1st performance long board just like this one! I was wondering, would it be a bad idea to strip the foam from a beat-up 10 foot softop foamie & build my board with that? Surf schools give them away sometimes... & the blank is a large portion fo the cost!

A few questions. Thats EPS foam correct? Also if I wanted to do a nose rider what kind of rocker would I want? Length etc.
@AndrewWorkshop4 жыл бұрын
Yes EPS foam. As Rex said, look up the Clark foam catalog, there are some good starting points in there. My other suggestion is to head to a surf shop and take a look at a ton of boards and find something that is a nose rider. Board rentals and try out something to see if you like it and base your design off that, Google is your friend too, I'm sure this question has been asked some where on the interweb :). Good luck!

Hi Andrew, about to shape my first board and have a question after watching your video. if you marked the intended apex of the rail and then removed foam on the hard 45 degree-ish angle to that mark does that not mean when you blended everything the apex is actually lower than your original mark?
@mynameis123456ish2 жыл бұрын
i feel i have seen in other brief videos people mark above and below the intended apex of the rail, but this was on sped up compilation which they don't offer an explanation
