Pixel 6a user here. I don't really know what google is doing. They seem to be just making UI tweaks here and there but they're not even working on features offered by competitors. Why wouldn't Google work on Lock Screen Widgets, Resizable Quick Settings buttons and much more. Look at OneUI, Google certainly lacks innovation these days. They introduced themed icons in Android 12, I don't understand why we still don't have an option to force apply for all apps. Google certainly needs to scale up more.

Well bro other companies like you mentioned just slam their skins like oneui , nothing os , hyper os , oxygen os on top of stock Android 15 and they are getting it straight from google ready to go already baked and polished only thing they so is just putting native skins but google have to change a whole operating system every year with more under the hood changes than some features like how many customise you're display like how many times you customise you're display in a month ? I myself think they should work on this but then i realise that idc about that customisation thing

it may have less features, but guess what? its a million times smoother and more polished than all of those OSes. i use a samsung device and its quite glitchy and slow at times. its because of the OS its running on.

I'm down for lock screen widgets but resizable quick setting buttons will just not work with the current theme. If they decide to add it anyway it will be either half backed or they have to redesign to make it work which most likely will make it look similar to their competitors.

Hello, regarding DND in Pixel 8 pro, there is a bug, when activate DND it silent all Whatsapp calls unless you specifically sign a ringtone to Whatsapp, still it ring twice in DND ! Does this DND bug fixed on Android 15 ? Also when plug with Android Auto the Hey Google commands has so many issues, did this been fixed ?

Do we really need a new version of Android every year at this point? The changes have been pretty small since Material You in 2021 and even that was mostly just appearances, the core of android didn't really feel that different. I'd totally be happy with just security patches for a couple of years if it means extending support for my devices.

That's also some sort of patches. They are not doing any big shot but slowly doing patches and every year introducing new version which is their regular stuff to do. Some OS improvements with patches.

But just do that for 2 or 3 years and call it Android 14.6, 14.7, 14.71, etc. instead of calling it Android 15, 16, 17, etc. and don't lose support for moderately older devices with perfectly capable hardware. Technology isn't advancing as fast as it used to so no need to stop supporting 4 year old phones.

People are always expecting new UI changed with every update and thats not how it works. Imaigne if every year ios and android changed UI elements. The OS would look inconsistent across versions. Android right now is more mature and it's focusing mainly on make rhe system more stable, something we should really appreciate instead of asking for "new ui changes" every year

You're huffing extreme copium. Google is EXTREMELY behind their competitors in terms of what's considered even BASIC features. No lock screen widgets, their customizability is lacking behind even the IPHONE now. Their notification panel/quick settings UI still sucks, their widgets me better support, app icon themeing STILL isn't universal, no dedicated focus mode, their universal search leaves a lot more to be desired, etc. Google isn't trying.

With such frequent updates, they can't really churn out so many new features as they are busy with existing bugs and improving the current OS. I personally feel that I would prefer a working OS with less bugs than an buggy OS with many new features. Once A15 is officially out, hope there will be new cool features by then. 😆

Does it still take a screen shot of the last screen shot thumbnail? I notice if you take two screenshots in succession without allowing the screenshot thumbnail and action buttons to disappear, the second screenshot will show the thumbnail. Samsung and iPhones don’t do this. They will not include that layer. These small things are important.

Maybe something AI related, something customizable, or even a simple color filter to make them stand out a little less. Then, people will actually start using it, so developers have an incentive to make their apps compatible.

The adaptive timeout seems to be tailor made for when you put the phone in your pocket, or on a table facing down. Small optimization but worth having it.

that pop up notification did not look more bouncy, these animations just are too quick and don't have a proper ending transition or appearance it's beginning, middle and halfway through the end it just goes. And doensn't leave a satisfying animation in it's whole.

Under the hood the difference between Android 14 and 15 is vast. AOSP has a new development model where quarterly releases follow the same development branch. Each quarterly release can accumulate lots of changes. Incomplete/unreleased functionality is disabled through config flags. A lot of what ships with Android 15 is inside the Android 14 QPR2/3 code, but largely disabled and less mature.

Had the same issue right now on beta 3 and also back on Android 14 beta last year. Go to settings -> apps -> see all apps -> three dots in the top right and select show system -> Android system intelligence -> Storage and cache -> Clear storage and select all time plus tick clear now playing history and clear -> clear the cache as well after and restart your device. It should be good within a few minutes now as it will redownload the now playing song database

My Pixel 6a still has bugs that have been reported since launch (the phone skips notifications, the keyboard closes when searching in the app drawer...), this is pretty sad because I love Pixel phones. I think my next phone will be iPhone. 😓

Yes the same here my Pixel 6a also has two bugs that are still there from the start. Every time I report they say it'll be fixed in the next update. I even told the support chat that I'm frustrated and I'll buy an iPhone next time.

I'm actually loving the UI tweaks. Android 15 is looking more and more consistent and cohesive than ever before. These little animations here and there ads to that feeling as well. Things i would like to see added: - ChromeOS desktop version - Be able to remove app names in the home screen - Keep implementing Material You to more apps like Keep, Tasks, etc. - Stack widgets in home screen - More consistent and cohesive widget forms and design - Lock screen widgets - Merge Google Assistant and Gemini, get the best of both
