I love the concept, but. I just bought a used Mazda Miata and I plan to replace the head unit with something that supports Android Auto. It's a very small car, so there's not much room to mount a radio so the controls are visible. I thought this radio might be a solution. But I'm worried about two things: 1. Does it work with Android Auto? 2. There is only one app to control this radio. There is no alternate way to control the radio. If the app gets abandoned by the developer and Android pushes an update that causes old apps to fail (it happens), does the radio become a brick? If only they had only chosen HTML5 as the control interface, then 1. there's no proprietary app (HTML5 will probably be supported for a long time) and 2. it would work exactly the same on iOS and Android.

The talk around function sets the transmit and receive frequencies to the same frequency for communicating transceiver-to-transceiver. This is useful when you want to "talk around" a repeater on that frequency. www.buytwowayradios.com/two-way-radio-features#talk-around
