Android is getting worse trust me. On Android 7.1 I could stop apps from opening apps like Chrome and the Play Store now that setting doesn't do anything. Also, Split Screen is unusable now. Google completely ruined Android. It wasn't for protection it was so you would be forced to use the Play Store. We are talking about the same company basically made viruses by ads and web results. It all started since Google gained access to AI and allowed to use AI. The US should have technically not allowed it.

It is upgrade time (cursed SD 888 & non-replaceable batteries). Sony decided to not bring VI North America again after only trying since the III. This news makes it hurt that much more that I cannot just replace my battery. The bootloader is open, but since fewer people buy it, less cfw support. I am so glad my phone cannot upgrade to android 14 or 15. My biggest issues with android 13 are the fact that I cannot clear the default browser without disabling Chrome, the fact that I can't uninstall chrome and several other apps that I don't need in the first place (at least without ADB), and the fact that I'm restricted in my storage access, I can't allow apps access to the download folder, for example. And i will never buy a more modern android, at least not from Samsung. I'm using the newest possible Samsung before they removed SD card slots. Really hate this modern trend of removing features and capabilities

Let me guess, they want to kill Newpipe and revanced by blocking all sideloading, meanwhile breaking things left and right. For example I have a game on my phone that I bought, runs great, but the developer didn't validate it for my device, and therefore I had to download it on another phone, copy the app and sideload it onto my phone. I paid for it, it works, yet this will most likely break it. I also had to sideload Netflix onto my tablet because it's rooted, so I have to copy the files over from my phone to the tablet for each update to use the service I already paid for.

Sorry to go a little off topic, but one of my phones is a Pixel 3a, and Google keeps wanting me to install Android 12 onto it. I did that, on another Pixel I had... and things got ruined. The phone got gummy slow, and the home screen looked wrong, example, the notification panel got a bunch of ugly eye candy that I didn't want. I had things just so, and they wrecked that.

Android has also as of 14 blocked file manager apps from accessing the data folder in the android folder to including special access, so good luck backing up your apps data, they say it's for your security but outright blocking it with no way to allow it manually we all know what they are up to! It's probably cause people like me found out that you could copy video files from the KZbin and Netflix folders. 🎶Own nothing, be happy....🎶 EDIT: okay so apparently i can't post a reply on my own fucking comment without it being instantly deleted so here's my clarification! im on about android/data as seen in a file explorer, thank you to the dude who i can't mention cause it also gets deleted right away i did not know computer could still access it i've just tried it, and i don't have a blueray drive in my computer so i've used another app movie 📦 to add my owned disks to my nas for plex

To be fair, about the app sideloading situation, lots of apps that are usually paid or have in-game transactions are losing money because theres a large community of people that take apks of apps and edit/mod them to include those paid features for free so i dont really blame them for trying to crack down on this.

@@metalvideos1961 quite the opposite actually, i can only pirate games here because i am unable to buy anything outside of my country. modding can be an issue because it can sometimes disrupt entire economies like the other guy said meanwhile something like that is impossible on pc because pirated games cannot connect to any official servers. as for apps that dont have anything like that in them i think its mostly up to the devs to decide if they want to allow this or not.
