The lyrics is as follows Scary Beauty At heart I have always known that I would find love And that this would be On the eve of my death I have always been confident, I have not given up Long before your presence, You were announced to me So you will be the one, My real presence I will be in the joy Of your non-fictional skin So soft to the caress, So light and so fine 神とはちがう実態物 やさしさを持つ動物 Entity non-divine, Animal of tenderness 死んだ鳥の住むこの地上に 果てしなく広がる平原 Beneath the sun of the dead bird, Spread infinitely the plain, There is no death more serene, Show me some of your body At heart I have always known that I would find love And that this would be On the eve of my death

I think this is a huge advancement in ai that it is conducting and adding lyrics to a composed work. It is hard enough conducting a live symphony, let alone adding words to the work. And then to add that it did this all in it's free will

Utter nonsense. There is so much wrong here, I don't know where to start. If our local symphony would use a robot instead of a human conductor, I would end my season subscriptions. In my opinion, this composer is a sell-out. Did he really need the money that badly, that he would contribute more to the decline of the music industry?!

I have some friends who play professionally in orchestras, and they've said that no one pays attention to the conductor anyways. That said, this robot conductor is garbage. All show, little substance. Like why is it constantly gyrating up and down? The hand gestures are way too imprecise to be a useful cue for any of the musicians to start their phrases. Oh well.

@@ProlificSwan I would say the up-down movement is the establishment of tempo. That tempo is initially determined by a cyclical pattern generator that creates slight deviations from perfect time keeping (just like a human percussionist for example) but is affected by the orchestra and audiences audio-visual responses as they are picked up by the microphones and cameras attached to the frame and run through its neural network. Alter 3 isn’t telling the orchestra when to start playing; as the melody and number of bars for the composition are predetermined (as are the lyrics, although created by training a neural network on pieces of classic romantic literature), it is only giving the volume and speed at which the piece is to be played through its movements. The creators are very clear about this. The movements of Alter 3 are determined dynamically by the trained response of the Android to sensory input and analysis of human expression to alter the state of the numerous actuators by way of an electronic ‘nervous system’ designed to mimic the logic of neural circuits in living organisms. It’s voice is also dynamic in this way; utilising recorded samples purposefully composed to sound somewhat robotic; but having the live expression dynamically altered by the neural network. I suppose this has very little to do with the music industry, and everything to do with storytelling, emotive artistic expression, emerging robotic technologies and the live audience response.

Despite the ever changing styles of how music is made and recorded I do think the music industry will survive but probably not the form of what we see right "now." If you think that AI is one of the factors to accelerate the demise of music industry then I guess you don't ever use social media, computer science and software. Some of the modern instruments use electricity. Creating AI conductor and perhaps AI musicians could be a good thing because in the future when another huge pandemic strikes again we could have some concerts with AI orchestra and bands at hospitals and public area with less possibility of spreading infectious disease. Please, imagine how people in ancient times listen to music. They had to listen live and not on youtube or other modern recording device. I guess there're pros and cons but we can't stop from people creating new ways to conduct an orchestra.
