Yeah I just read up on it now, apparently the timeline is up on the Andromeda Initiative website. Still though, having played the original trilogy multiple times, I find it confusing that a massive ark ship would manage to elude the millions maybe billions of reaper ships in dark space (space between galaxies). They say it took 600 hundred years for the ship to Arrive at Andromeda, which means that ship would still be well within, the milky way when the Reaper invasion started, and seeing as how all the Tech in the area originated from the reapers and their unfathomable power, again I can't see how this escaped them!

They went right after the events of Mass Effect 1, they are going there to find new golden worlds for the Milky way council races. Essentially the Andromeda initiative, which is a privately funded initiative responsible for this expedition, is sending them to the Andromeda galaxy. The AI is a one way trip or expedition to the Andromeda galaxy, they travel for 600 years and are in cryo sleep during that time. They do not maintain any contact with the Milky way nor do they know anything that took place after they leave.

Looking back in retrospective it doesn't make any sense for a scout ship to have zero armament. Even light armament (armor/shields or weapons) should be added for possible engagements against hostile species or creature's. Also why stealth? If this isn't a warship then this should be totally unnecessary. The primary function of this ship should be to explore as such it should focus on exploration / geological & fauna survey's / scientific research. Stuff like sophisticated long range scanners and such are way more important.

Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous that they would have another, secret, "much more powerful project" going on right at the same time as the Reapers were invading, and that they just "happened" to leave some months before the galaxy was destroyed. I thought it was cool at first assuming that Andromeda was like a last escape while Milky Way was being destroyed, maybe they found some kind of Reaper tech that made it possible for one last journey to Andromeda, maybe with just a few of each species, but this whole Andromeda Initiative, and that it would have been worked on parallelly with ME 1-3 is just ridiculous. Illusive Man would have known about this.

1)The tech is largely not superior. 2)The tech they gain, is largely gained during MEA, not before it (ME1-ME2). 3)The more particular higher tech they use is not distributable and extremely cost prohibitive. For example, the ODSY drive is not really useful against the Reapers, it may not even outrun them, but its just to maintain a long-term journey.

I'm so glad there are no loading screens in the Tempest!! I hated that I had to sit through 10 seconds of doing nothing each time I wanted to speak with crewmembers! That made me want to interact less and less with them in ME2 and ME3 (the little bit that was there to interact with anyway). I hope that the characters this time around are also interesting (unlike Jacob in ME2 and that mexican "character" in ME3) and plotessential (except for Mordin there was no reason for any of the characters in ME2 to go on the mission. They were there just to make the game an alien-dating sim. What happened to the fact that asari were special because it was the only alien species that was able to do so?). Though I AM glad to see that planetary exploration is again a possibility. The rover's 4 or 6 wheel drive doesn't really make sense and the paintjob seems just fluff but I think that's ok. What makes me worried somehow is wether or not the planetary exploration will be varied enough. ME2's exploration missions were great, although the scanning was tedious (which could have been minimized by being able to actualy BUY GUNS AND EQUIPMENT AT A SHOP and EDI saying she is picking up an anomaly when entering the galaxy). After playing ME3 and its "varied gameplay" of eliminating 3 waves of the same enemies in each mission and that being almost the same thing in Dragon Age Inquisition (which is one of the games Bioware looked at for inspiration) it's justified I'm a bit worried. I hope they somehow can weave story and characters together this time around. Bioware must have learned from its past mistakes.

Driving Mako was the only thing I did not like about Mass Effect 1. I hated that grind. It was not fun. Nomad =Mako is the center piece of Mass Effect Andromeda. Unlike Mako, Nomad does not have any guns, so it will be even less fun to drive around. Mining? Reminds me of Elite Dangerous grind. Only there are no flyable ships in ME Andromeda. Tempest flying around = spaceships loading screens, just like in Destiny. Those who don’t want to mine the minerals, can use in-game microtransactions already confirmed and in place. It’s no coincidence that no story has been shown because there is no good story. Bioware’s lead writer left Bioware in Feb. 2016 and the writer (who wrote ME1 and ME2) returned to Bioware, but not to work on ME Andromeda. Unfortunately, this game will be terrible and as a huge fan of ME 1 - ME3 it hurts me to see Mass Effect legacy smeared by Mass Effect Andromeda. I will stay away from this game.

The Tempest is an exploration ship, designed to fly in a completely unknown galaxy. Sacrificing weaponry for the ability to hide from and run away from anything is much better. At best you’d ruin first contact with an alien race and at worst you’d start a war that the initiative *cannot* win because there’s no warships to fight it with. There’s no non-pyrrhic victory to be had firing on anyone in the Andromeda galaxy.

Let's adress the elephant in the room : i doubt that a spaceship wich can do 13 light years per day will have any trouble with weight, just to give u an idea about how absurd it is , this ship travels 13 times the distance that lights travels in a whole year in just a single day !!!! 13 light years = 300000*3600*24*365= 9.4608 * 10^12 km . now if we divid that by the amount of seconds in a day (3600*24) well know exactly how much this ship travels per second : 9.4608*10^12/(3600*24)= 1.095*10^8 km/s , let's see how much this equats to light speed, 1.095*10^8/300000 = 365 times . so you're telling me that a ship which is 365 times faster than the speed of light which is by the way weightless is going to be affected by armor weight ? bare in ming they didn't tell that it uses wormwholes and even if it did, you can't expect to just find them scattered in space. Also if it's great as it is , why can't the crew use it to travel back to the galaxy where the events of the last game happened. Some people are going to tell me that's because it'll take 600 years to get there but bare in mind that the mothership is much slower than the tempest, a lot slower because of it's " weight " and all the resources and people that's carying around. yeah I'm going to be called out a nerd and nitpicky but if this game is gonna have a lab for analysis inside the ship and try to ground the gameplay at least they should've spent a little bit of a time to this science crap !!

At combat? Totally (at least at the start of MEA) better than the Tempest. In speed? The Tempest. In facilities? Possibly the Tempest. The Normandy is an experimental (SR-1) and top-of-the-line (SR-2) light frigate, but this is the best scouting ship Bioware could ever write in for this point in the timeline, better than the Normandy in several major ways.
