Skated Andy's original shape for a couple years and loved it. Started moving to more tech and curbs and switched to an Ishod 8.5 Twin. I liked it, but felt like I was missing something going away from the Flight deck. Picked up this board and have never loved skating a setup more. I've got 149 Independent Hollows and 52mm Dragons with it.

For those wondering what truck size fits - he rides a mini logo 8.38 with risers, with his custom wheel that sticks out farther. This is equal to the Thunder 149 (both have 5.75 in hanger)

thanks yo any idea what size mini logo riser pads he's using...? i wasn't sure but figured the .10".. I was about to get the mini logo 8.38 because I thought my thunder 149's were 8.5... which is wider than the 8.38 mini logos... and if i were to get andy's even newer Vajra deck which is 8.4 at the trucks, would my thunder 149 be too wide for that?

@yesodkhabbal2643 probably the thinnest set you can find. The size of the mini cubics sort of make wheel bife hard to obtain. Especially considering &y skates his trucks tight as hell

Its the board of been waiting for since I started skating again in 2006. Started in 1984 and ended up eventually going through about 15 Powell Peralta Mike V's. Then partied for a decade (even though im sure i had a board in the corner of my room) and when that was over wanted to skate again. Bought a popsicle, totally alien to me, but did my best with it. Rolled around ever since but couldn't get my head around it until I finally worked out I needed a square tail, something I learned everything with, but couldnt find a popsicle with a square tail. Also needed a bigger wheel base, again something that just felt right to me after 15 Mike V's. Ordered Andys new deck and I cant get over how good it is. Everything feels right. Also after doing my first ollie the word 'pop' entered my brain, something I didnt expect being 50, goofy, and with a left knee/shin bone full of metal (half pipe mishap in 20012). Hit the streets and everything came back, no complys on point, ollies feeling better than ever and confidence just came back. And for the first time in my life I now have both trucks equally set, no choice as its symmetrical, and that's a game changer for me...coming from a skater who for 35 years has had a back truck way tighter than the front. No doubt I will eat shit again but for now I'm feeling very good on this board. Its the best board I've ever skated and just feels right on all aspects. You can really feel the thought that's gone into it. Well done Andy this is another winner.

@@sessionsinparadise7357 Ah mate what a board. For me probably the best graphic ever. Ive still got one set up...when i stand on it brings back many memories...so familiar and I can do things on it I cant do on anything else. I think Andy has, by default, also created a board that I would recommend to any skaters from the 80's looking to skate again. It just feel right, the size, the concave and the wheel base while bringing us into 2022. Feel very confident on it, until I eat shit again, but will enjoy it while it lasts haha.

Ah the conversations I would love to have with that man. He seems like such an awesome guy. Honestly, I may have bought all 3 of his flight decks, both sizes of the last shape, and finally just was able to get his new shape all in fully built completes. His wheels are also exactly what I was looking for too. I always rode with 56mm powell peralta g-slides, but having his wheel being just slightly harder changed the entire experience. It made park skating much better while still being able to get great slides on both rough terrain, and smooth concrete. This guy really changed the whole game for me.

I feel like no other skater uses so much of their board, parts of the setup that most people don't even touch Andy has a practical use for. I Really like the idea of the wheels covering the axel nuts but that's a wide ass wheel! Asymmetrical wouldn't work for me because I egg the hell out of wheels and have to rotate. The only alternative is to make them symmetrical but wider again but that would add weight and rolling resistance making them slower. Super interesting to think about though!

I’d like to know this as well. I ordered it with the 8.38 mini logos cause I like trucks a little skinnier for lock in maneuverability. Maybe with wider wheels it’ll be even-ish? This is what the site says 8.38" Trucks (with Medium Bushings) - fit 8.25 to 8.75" skateboards It looks like any is riding the 8.75 though here. I’ll watch again.
@ByDylanYoung
@ByDylanYoung Жыл бұрын
@@JulesInfinite888 I'm guessiing he's using the 8.38s with his unreleased asymm hybrid freestyle wheels (like Waltz wheels, where the bearings are offset and the bolt is buried behind the wheel edge). I know he mentioned the new wheels in another video but I've never heard him specify the truck width. Still, I imagine the new wheels paired to 8.38s would give a 8.5+ spread at the wheels for those improved primos. Be nice to know for certain though, especially in a setup video.

The smaller v1 deck always did me dirty on anything taller than a three step set. Im sure its mostly to do with the chronic case of old, but ollies would tend to rotate on my front foot, just enough to make a naturally difficult landing area, just that much more difficult. The full sized series one was all around magic tho.
