Sara Palin ran for Congress in Alaska last year and lost a 3 way race.. It was the first time Alaska used a new system called "ranked choice". It was 1 Democrat and 2 Republicans. In a deeply red state the Dem could not win a two way race but the right split the vote and lost due to lack of unity and stubbornness. Sara was the trump cult choice. Don actually attended a rally in Anchorage where they featured all the crazy greatest hits of FOX. The other Republican Nick Begich had credentials and was the GOP pick. Mary Peltola, the Dem who won is a very popular state politician with a great resume. She was the obvious by far best choice but in Alaska it took splitting the Republican vote.
